  1. sounds perfect for when I do get real foods... that would make a great bento box meal. for the ones that eat pickles- a quick and easy way to pickle things you like... save THAT juice and jar... like jalapenos? slice jalapenos and put them in jar with juice- cover and enjoy. (I also add the grape tomatoes and a few thin slices of carrot) ALSO that watermelon rind... don't toss it away... cut it up and put it in the pickle juice, 2 days is all that is needed... I leave some pink flesh. you may add a clove of garlic and a pinch of chili flakes... that has got to be my fav. snack... and I just learned about this 6 weeks ago...
  2. It's happening as we type... don't blink, there goes some -right now! there is no rhyme or reason... I did nothing yesterday, and lost a pound, a week ago I walked 2 miles on top of swimming (light water aerobics) and lost nothing for two days... next day I lost two pounds... I was lucky, the first 5 days from surgery I lost 13# - so as I was adjusting to post op- visitors could see... their attitude helped me...
  3. as long as it is red wine they won't be able to tell drink water, be glad you had it... Have a nIce wonderful surgery- all will be fine! I'm not sure what Heperin does exactly, I think it thins your blood, but they shoot you up every 12 hours with it... and it's the worse of all shots... I
  4. Hi- Try drinking warm or room temp drinks. plain water was the worst for me, and still is, however zero drinks, vitamin water or alike I can get down. I drink them diluted. still not cold, just room temp. I also could drink hot stuff easier, lucky me I go for the decaf latte, every so often... I'm back to stage II foods, stage III didn't go so well.
  5. Yikes! I am trying to ward off that adventure... I am working on the 64 oz. after yesterdays trip to see why I am dizzy - bp was 94/68- used to be 140/78... I am back on stage II foods and feel lifeless today.. also dizzy every time I stand... I'm awaiting my gatorade shipment...
  6. Are you my Brother? at 3+ weeks out... I am having some issues with foods on stage III, so I went back to stage II... You know those 4 oz. apple sauces I can't eat that whole thing... I try, I hate wasting that last bite... it just won't go down... when I tried stage III foods it was three bites, no more or It was coming up- my stomach is inflamed a bit. I get hungry, and I get dizzy... then there is evening hunger. WhY? every commercial on TV is about food! Olive garden and red lobster I hate! Look at the blog "the world according to egg face" She makes Bento boxes for lunch... they are awesome! ok everything she does is awesome! But these bentos speak to me... variety, creativity, flavors, portability... and yes- they will fill you up.
  7. I like all your motto's... I like cottage cheese... I live for cottage cheese... cottage cheese makes me stronger today I am going to try cottage cheese with siracha... I need some spice in my life!!!
  8. Hi- first take a deep breath- breath and enjoy life... now- make your lists... lay out your vits daily or weekly... done... make a list of meals B-L-D. post on fridge... done...\ the thing I found is some days I can gulp Water, no prob- next day not so good... so take it slow... while you are rehabilitating, is the time to get organized, clean out cupboards etc. make your house clean- eating wise. now plan a time to exercise... the way it works is how you work the program... like any program, you have to make the effort. you are "all in" on this- now that 85% of your stomach is removed... the game is to make sure you become healthier, by following the program. I have had a coupla speed bumps in my road -3 weeks out... my first move is to get over them... mainly eating... it's a physical problem - I still went out and enjoyed live music tonight and the sunset. now my spoon of cottage cheese and a spoon of yogurt are going to be consumed. Good Luck!
  9. I don't have the answer for ya- sorry- I can sympathize though... Doc just gave me three more weeks off, due to sending me back to softties land... so far two meals and no tossing my Cookies My doc is a miracle man! laid his hands on me and healed me... kinda- great advice today... and have not had any dizzy spells since... (happy dance) I work on my feet all day, can only sit on breaks... pre-op I caught a nap on my lunch break, if I was going back tomorrow I know I be a wreck... They say it gets better... My wife (RnY) had more energy about 4 weeks, then she ever had...
  10. Mine is just starting to get back.. 3 weeks- too long! I was as happy as a 15 year old boy... until surgery... they never warned me about THAT!...
  11. was getting a blood test, the vampire was a customer of mine back when I owned a pizza shop.. (5 years ago) she read my name- when I stood up- she called my name again... it took her a few glances and then was all: uh you look way different...
  12. I can eat all the pudding and not feel full but only 3-4 bites of mashed potato or tuna salad and it sits in my throat ready to come back up.... I made a high Protein lasagna, today ( no pasta- grilled veggies) and had maybe 1.5 oz. flavorful but didn;t make me happy... and I seem to burp and or hickup after eating real foods...
  13. s this surgery not for me? I'm HELLBENT on this surgery, but if I can't have a glass of wine or two once a week, it's a dealbreaker this was a concern for me- look at my blog... i am all about making wine- 22/7... IMO- sleeve is the better of the two for wanting a drink... The phycologist and my surgeon both agreed, it would not interfere, however, the amounts would change- and to be very careful of crossover addiction. I slowed down quite a bit pre-op, and yes- on the fourth did have several Jello shots... one didn't hurt, so I had a few more through out the day while swimming... wasn't wine... I'm not gonna tempt my stomach at this time... I want it healed... I do have plans on doing a red wine jello shot... so what you got to decide is it right for you... after surgery, who knows until you try it... I am having trouble with a lot of foods, however ice cream and Cookies are no problem... yes- I had a skinny cow, and it was good! and I had 1 PB cookie, and it went down easily... I try mashed potato, quesadilla , and it is wanting to come back up instantly...
  14. No regrets- I just can't wait for the dizziness and fainting to leave, and to be able to eat again... so far all meals today and two yesterday have come up... I am drinking real gatorade now... for the carbs and sodium as prescribed by nutritionist... I am so going back to soft foods!
  15. Hi- I do not know how to make a real guess to my weight in 60 days... I lost 29 pounds the three weeks after surgery and 30 pounds the 13 weeks prior... after surgery I had great weight loss daily and then after 20 pounds my body stalled for 5 days.. now it is 2# every three days, though one day I see nothing and the next nothing then bamm! down again... SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal chef neil ........320..................261..........200..........61
  16. 1) How long have you been sleeved? 3 weeks 2) Who was your surgeon? Dr. Alami- SSF Kaiser 3) What were your experiences with your surgeon? great bedside manor, thorough, and great follow up with questions-via e-mail. 4) Would you recommend your surgeon? YES! 5) How much weight have you lost since your sleeve date? 29# 6) What type of sleeve do you have? Good question... 7) Would you recommend the type of sleeve you have? I recommend Bariatric surgery, everyone is different... 8) Do you find you still have the necessary level of energy to sustain a good workout? YES. 9) Do you find it difficult to keep the weight off once you have lost it? not yet- currently loosing 1-2#/day 10) Do you have trouble eating, such as getting stuck? yes- soft foods, like deli meats, don;t agree with me.. ok any food at this point other than cottage cheese/yogurt makes me sick. 11) What is the one things about getting the surgery that you regret? no regrets... just wish I was in the 5% that could do it without surgery... and keep it off! 12) Would you do this surgery again, or would you have made another choice? it's been a long hard struggle, yet, I have come a long ways... I'm half way to my goal in just over 17 weeks.
  17. Hi- Do not be afraid of the Roux N Y, although I am a n00b sleever, My wife which was your weight back in DEC. has now lost 125 pounds and has less trouble with foods than I have... please be open as you explore, each person is different. Losing the weight prior to surgery is easy... you don't have to think... stick to the program... now that I am sleeved- always thinking about food, and Water... what can I have, and will it stay down... Drink- Drink- Drink... although I am very happy after, I was on the fence through out my 14 week classes. The pre-op program foods took off the needed weight, and occasionally I slipped and drank some wine- that's what I do.. even yesterday- I can't resist some home made Cabernet. though it was only a smidgen of a glass... still came in with -2# for the day and 4# for the weekend. and I was traveling. Good luck and read everything you can!
  18. Hi- I too am exhausted after my morning shower.. today was much better, still fighting dizziness, Surgeon had me do a blood test. and then I heaved my lunch... at least my Breakfast shake stayed down...
  19. Isn't that the worst? I could barely stand up with out fainting... then to drink... YUK! so glad that table fell backwards- or I woulda had two nurses scraping me up off the floor in that designer gown. oh and the removal- OUCH!...
  20. Hi- I also had a plateau - I was loosing 3#/day then it dropped to 2# and after 24# it stopped... 5 days... then it started dropping again... 1/2# then 1#/day... what LMD said... stay on program- It works... I know a sleever that stalled 5 months... now that I would worry about... most likely didn't follow program... My main worry is not weight loss but drinking and eating... staying hydrated and moving on to stage III - yesterdays lunch set me back... I am embracing the goodness of yogurt and cottage cheese! I really want to eat some scrambled eggs with salsa..
  21. we's been getting really short tempered with the kids too and i know he's having a rough go with things in general. now.....how do i broach THAT subject?????? Hi- not knowing the full situation... I talked to my Dr. not about sex- I was as eager as a 14 year old boy... until surgery... anywayz- between her and a counselor they thought a low dose of anti depressents would help. Remarkable how it did- when I saw the Psyc. for his opinion on WLS, he side stepped that and helped me with my stresses, which also was part of my weight issues. kinda amazed about how that all worked, and one pill daily makes me feel normal... now to wait and see if my labido comes back, down 54 pounds- hello- did they remove my MOJO too???
  22. Hi- I had a pushbutton drip every 6 minutes- dilaludin? Morphine makes me crazy (ER) I stopped the drip on day 2 and went to tylonol/codein by mouth every 4 hours, then had same at home- only used it to put me to sleep- i didn;t sleep much in hospital- the machines would beep- my heart rate dropped to 46 - and would wake me... I tried the cpap but it didn't help. I have a low resting heart rate...even though I am fat. Morbidly obese everyone is different- after day one- the pain you feel is Gas... nothing takes it away... however walking and some downward dog stretches at home seemed to help get it passed. surgery site for me was secondary and hardly anything... when I got home my puppy jumped on my stomach... many times... gotta love them small cute dogs... my cat also slept right on top all night.. . My wife cringed, she was not able to sleep lying down for a week... please don't be scared, the things I had issues with going in were my least of my worries, drinking and eating and standing up, and then urinating after they took the catheter out... i could walk- it was just the getting up, maintaing through the dizziness... then I was a track star... nurses let me wander... and drinking... I had four little thimble of a glass and was supposed to drink 1 every 15 minutes... I got one an hour down... My wife would remind me, to drink... (though it sounded like she was yelling and the food trays... Oh boy... 1 spoon of apple sauce... enuf! however - each day gets better... knowing that one or two weeks you will be less than normal,
  23. Hi- welcome back... weak yes- oh mY! still... and dizzy... and I rather not eat... I feel good between meals... after I have digested and before I get hungry. right now, not working it is ok... but when I go back- I hope things get better. how I am dealing... I follow the instructions... Water... and eat on time- and the right foods... It was suggested to me yesterday to exercise, I did walk last night, and had no dizziness, however fell asleep by 10 and woke around 8 am... I am sleeping so much better after surgery... your early on, it does get better... The yogurt and cottage cheese was my fav. food for ease and digestion. Neil
