  6. MmMm Beef... how ya gonna seSON IT? TRADITIONAL MIDDLE EASTERN, American, Latin??? Tonight while at dinner with my bride, my phone rang, it was my son, he asked, how to make chicken tagine. 1 800 call the chef here I sit in a restaurant explaining how to cut food/season and cook in a tagine. interesting huh? btw- my burrito was fantastic- cut it at the 2/3 line- ate 1/3 took 2/3 home. It had whole Beans in it- I was wanting some comfort food (bad day at work along with cold weather) however the refries have oil in them... I opted for black beans being no oil and a healthier choice- I am really liking to be able to eat normal foods again... been a while since I was able to eat some things- as long as it is oil free and not starchy- I am able to eat... my portions go in waves- one meal is large,( about a cup) next I can only eat 1/2, even if I was hungry... kinda weird- such is life with a sleeve...
  7. SOOOOO... what recipe? how did it go?

  9. Hi- I am 6 months out, and not seen any losses... I have been taking biotin since before surgery, as is my wife, she is 6 months ahead of me- though she is a RNY'r... She has had hair loss at month 4..
  10. Hi Jackie, I have not used a D/O in this way, I would think it would be close. Back in the 70's, clay pot cookery was a rage, My Auntie used to make some fine chicken stew. I am sure it is all the same, just a regional thing, size and shape. Ok- I just did a quick google- uh- wow! apparently a lot of opinions on this- some say why add another thing to the arsenal, others say it's the only way... since we didn't have a clay cooker, nor a dutch oven, I am glad I gave this to my wife for Christmas.
  11. Longer life- one blog is enough..., ok, two forums, 3 facebook pages and one blog I will stick to wine making- but if you have any questions, or wanna chat foodie- just pm me... or look for chef neil creations on face book- friend me- tell me you're a sleever...
  12. A tagine is a Moroccan clay cooking pot. more recipes- I just go with the flow- what ever I have in fridge and my flavor wants/needs... I can post more - I will be concentrating on Southwestern- since I like spice/heat and the intense flavors...
  13. Hi- I bought my wife a tagine for Christmas,(cost plus world market) While off on vacation/juryduty, I decided to play with it. My wife doesn't like curries so much so the challenge is to make meals either South western or traditional American flavored. first time I used one, two lean center cut boneless pork chops, diced, with 1/2 onion, 1 clove elephant garlic, 1 roasted red pepper, a can of black Beans and a can of diced tomatoes. no salt- to grinds on the pepper mill, a pinch of fresh dried oregano and a shake of ground cumin. all in- 2 hours @ 350* in oven and done- tender and flavorful. next up chicken stew- a carrot, 1/2 onion, 3 cloves of garlic smashed, 3 red potatoes, diced, two breasts of chicken cut up, a bay leaf, 3 grinds on the pepper mill,a shake of celery seed, and a can of chicken stock. all in- 2 hours- and again fantastic food! I have been slowly getting back to real foods- 6 months out and some basic foods still bothered me- I find this is a great way to make a tasty dinner, easy prep, and everything is tender... the Tagine is 12 inches round, and makes enough for- four servings- so dinner for two and a lunch for two next day- .
  14. know it was addressed to the gals but I have to chime in too - YES it is better for BOTH partners after a weight loss. Diito I used to have the labido of a 14 year old... then I had surgery... 100# down... Sex is great- but wow- has the thoughts left the brain... I think about it once a week... what happened? whoa! everything works well- it just seems things have changed... anyone else?
  15. Hi all! Today I rode my bike 55 miles... I had surgery back on june 13th. I am 100 pounds down from the start and feeling great! although I still have dizzy spells, not as much, and still have troubles with foods. the good news is- I was at the gym and rode for 30 minutes or 10 miles on their bike- then did 30 miles on wed. took two days off from exercise, still worked, and then today rode 55 miles through the wine country of Nor-cal- great weather, great friends, and a loving family... so tomorrow is my Bday and I weighed in at 225# today- pre ride- probably lost 4 pounds, but have been hydrating all afternoon... even though I drank 48 oz. on the bike. the ride was fun, easy, and had about a 15 mph average. I finished as strong as I started. big change from a year ago- did same ride and darn near collapsed after...
  16. Hi- I have had dizzy spells from week 2 till present- things are better, at 3 months out- when ever I get dizzy now- I sit and drink, and then have some protein too. lately I have been almost meal time and hot (been working out side) so I can;t figger it out, dehydration or needing protein...
  17. Hi- it is easy to eat yogurt- I barely remember 2 weeks out... I think I was eating 2 oz. but then again- I was having troubles eating anything. 4-6 oz. is my daily lunch- I stick with greek yogurt only with no added sugars. after my bike ride yesterday- I'm 3 months out and did 21 miles with an avg. 18.4 mph. I had a 3 oz. choc. greek yogurt- not my fav. but a nice size snack.
  18. Hi- I am 3 months out from surgery and many of my troubles are fading away- dizziness very seldom- Doc. and I think it's dehydration issues. eating/vomiting- yea- sometimes- sticking to ground and soft Proteins for a bit longer.. The question in my mind now- and one I never thought about, or have heard much talk about is- What do you do when you hit goal weight? How do you eat? The classes all prepared us for pre op diet, the surgery, then the stages after surgery, and WHAM! I am quickly approaching goal weight- 35 pounds left and now am wondering, how do I stop losing weight? will body automatically know when to stop? what if my weight I chose in my Head, isn't what my body wants?? I know not to go grab a cheese burger and fries- but considering my limited menu now- it would be hard to add in cals. to become stable. I never have had this issue- and I may be over thinking this, but somebody has got to remember, know of, or been through it...
  19. Hi- I am in! not only does this end on my Birthday but last several years I have made great strides in weightloss by my day- we celebrated with a 50 mile bike ride that morning- I have had up to 24 people join me... 5 years running now... open invite to anyone that wants to join me this year!!! 50 miles through the wine country, during the best time- harvest. the colors and smells are incredible! this year I would like to be at goal- will I ? I don't know... on my cycling forum, we have a 52 day challenge- eat clean, exercise and loose weight- it ends 10/31 too. I will work on exercising daily and drinking more liquids.... the eating is a given.... It doesn't matter what I weigh in at... this year, no matter what- I am at my lowest in 35 years.
  20. +1 for the WF team member that helped you I have been eating prunes, taking benefibre, a stool softener, and adding ground flax seed to my morning shakes... I tried MOM. and besides yukkie... no affect... I then started the once a day miralax- thanks to a suggestion here... AND wow- I am regular.. Thank You! somebody also mentioned apple cider vinegar for the 'roids... another TY! I also discovered something new- why do I always get sick at dinner- and mostly when we go out to eat? Water... the only time I drink (sips) during dinner is at a restaurant, and that is when I got sick. besides staying away from bread, and deep fried foods, as well as junkfoods... I stopped getting water at dinner- twice I ate out and no probs... still hold to a very small portion, like 1 egg and 1/2 piece of toast or 1 taco. hope this helps somebody...
  21. Lanette- yes they have them... I think trek or specialized makes them. To me it's a gimmick- switching gears is easy- (sorry) it's a tool like your sleeve, to make riding easier... depending on your condition, I try to find a gear I can ride in 60% of the time... if you have a triple on the front, I ride ride middle/middle... then as I hit down slopes or up slopes adjust the gearing so I am still doing about 60-80 revs per minute... I want to keep my legs moving at all times- using these gears, one way or another helps. there are other ways- like standing or just pushing harder... I have clips on my shoes- so not only do I push but I can pull... the only way to learn this is by doing... get out and play with the gears, they should move easily from one gear to the next- if not go to your local bike shop and get an adjustment... while on rack- they should show you how to change gears- always pedaling.... there are too many types to talk about- some have numbers on the handle- 1 is easy- 9 is hard 2/5 is my normal... if ya want pm me- take a pic of your shifters and I can talk you through it... if you go to a bike shop and they are not friendly- find another- until somebody wants to show you... I was shuned because of my size- and pushed towards a bike i didn't want- I moved on and finally a guy helped me, I got the bike I wanted- it worked for my weight and has been great to me- over the miles... now I am lighter- I love that bike more. I have a bike with only one speed actuly I have two bikes like that one you rest, called a single speed- think back to the kiddie bikes- and the other is old school, fixed- still one gear but as long as the wheels are moving so do the pedals... it is the best bike to ride.. I feel like I am one with the bike... just don't stop pedaling... you go over the handle bars- or your knees get yanked out of their sockets... I only crashed once, first time out... now I can ride and enjoy it... Anybody wants to talk bikes- pm me... Bikes are my life-ok making wine too
  22. Miralx- $23./bottle... Wow! first dose down... 30 doses... 1 a night...
  23. Hi- I brought this up to my Dr. She says it is similar to a gal being preggers, the weight pushes on the bladder, now my stomach is smaller- it is great not having the urges to just go all the time. I had tests to be sure everything was going ok- all normal... Doc. must be right...
  24. Yea! Big Joe! I'm currently fixing up a C1979 path racer, it is a fixed gear, nothing pretentious about it, I just get on and go for a spin. It was a gift from a friend- I get out on it and head down town for a latte, or to the store for an item.. I have two other bikes, that I crank out the miles on... just love the wind in my face...
