I will not miss going to the doctor, no matter what my ailment, and being told "you have to lose weight first" I will not miss being unable to tie my shoes I will not miss getting rid of my "fat clothes" and all of my multiple-sized clothes in my closet (skinny clothes, skinny + 20 lbs clothes, skinny + 40 lbs clothes, etc) I will not miss having to shop online for bras (and paying $75-$100 each!) because department stores don't carry my size I will not miss the back and hip pain from just standing up I will not miss having to get a seat belt extender on planes - and not being able to reach under the seat in front of me for my bag I will not miss having an extremely hard time finding cute clothes that fit I will not miss being dependent on other people for simple things I used to be able to do myself I will not miss my back scrubber in the shower, because I'll be able to bend down and wash my feet without it

Don't think of the pre-op diet just as a liver shrinking diet, think about it as practice for post op. While you may be losing weight and hopefully the liver shrinking you aren't doing yourself any favours with the fast food. It's not a useful habit for weightloss and very easy to do once your are post op. Start developing a new habit one that is more useful for achieving your weight loss goals, one that will be useful for post op.

    NSV & first vacation experience

I am almost 6 months post op and took my first vacation this week (Drove up to Tahoe). I went with some friends who did not know about the surgery but knew I was actively losing weight and trying to eat healthier and it wasn't awkward at all. I didn't snack, but I did eat some meals I shouldn't have. But between watching how much and exercise, I was down just over 2 lbs for the week. In the past, anytime I vacationed I would be up so I'm super excited. I had some great NSVs while I was out. - Hiked almost every day - around 5 miles, intermediate hikes, at elevation. Still hard, but I did it. - Kayaked, and was able to get in and out easily. - They had standard size bath towels in the bathroom, and it wrapped all the way around me without a gap! - It was my birthday and I didn't have any cake, and really didn't miss it. I tried alcohol for the first time since surgery. I had a glass a wine a couple of times and did fine. However, I had about 1/3 of a margarita and felt awful. I don't think I full on dumped, but I think if I had drunk any more I would have. It's the first time I've had any amount of sugar so lesson learned. I'm going back to not drinking for a while (it will continue to be an occasional event going forward).

I'm so disappointed in myself. I am 6 days into the liver reducing diet (following a milk diet), but I've had fast food every day. That's even more than I usually do. It's as though my brain has started craving all the things that I know I won't be having again. I feel like this is just classic me being self-destructive. Amazingly I haven't gained any weight because I've not been eating anything else, just fast food for dinner. I'm hoping I can put this past week behind me and start afresh, my surgery is on the 10th - is that enough time to turn it around?

Some doctors have liver shrink diets of two weeks. Some one week, and some one day. It depends on your surgeon. Now that you've admitted that you've made a mistake, own it and fix it. You have to be able to be on track; the surgery is simply a tool, not a fix-all. It's up to you to put in the work to lose the weight once that honeymoon phase is over. I realize how hard it is to give up some things, but your health is worth it. Do your best to stick to your diet the remaining time, and be honest; call your surgeon and let them know. They'll probably tell you the same thing. Just do your diet. This is legitimately the hardest part of the surgery. It's hard to change years of bad behaviors and mindsets, but you've gotta put in your best to make the attempt. Once you build the habit (and have had your surgery), it gets easier to be healthy. You will crave healthier foods, if any food at all, and your body will reject (mostly) bad foods. You have to hang in there and keep your head strong. You've got this.

    Popsicle Molds

I have some cheap ones I got a grocery store a few years ago - they're still OK - but I bought these on amazon a few months ago and like them even better: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GDXHSZ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 the two ways I make them: 1) Greek yogurt mixed fruit or SF pudding mix 2) SF pudding mix mixed with unsweetened almond (or cashew) milk + 2 or 3 scoops of protein powder neither of these recipes are super low in calories (but then...I'm in maintenance), but they have a fair amount of protein in them, which I need...

    Not hungry, hate eating

Thank you everyone. I'm at 175 right now I haven't really talked to anyone but my hemotologist, who didn't seem concerned. I don't get my 100g of protein tho I know I should. But again, nothing tastes right and it's a big food turn-off. I'll see if I can get in to see Dr. K. I haven't seen him since maybe a 2 years after my surgery. So I should probably have a followup. Thank you everyone.

Things I won't miss about being fat!

I don't miss everyone looking at me when I board a plane and thinking, "I hope the fat guy doesn't sit next to me."
