Starbucks?

Recommended Posts

Hi, all! Just wondered if anyone gave up or continued their Starbucks (or any coffee) habit after the band? I gave it up when I did the pre-surgery 2-week liquid diet and I am now one week past surgery so almost a month. I was never really a Breakfast eater - would have a coffee until lunch.< /p>

I never did eat Breakfast much now that my band feels tight most mornings I just continue to have my morning coffee with one sweetener instead of 2 scoops of sugar! If I'm on the go I will get a skinny americano Id be lost without my coffee il eat something mid morning and happy days

I am really not a fan of artificial sweeteners. :( I know that isn't great for the band since they say to do that and avoid sugar but I have a lot of breast cancer in my family (4 aunts on my mom's side plus lost my grandmother to it) and I try to avoid the artificial stuff. Problem is - I don't like "non-sweet" coffee. I used to get a hazelnut macchiato with skim milk. Not the best, I know! : /

I never stopped drinking coffee.. told my Dr. before my surgery if I had to give up coffee it was a deal breaker. I don't do starbucks , expensive and really to me it's not that good. most of their concoctions are very high in calories.. I have gotten a skinny latte before when I was at the airport, they seem to have a monopoly there. It was okay nothing to jump up and down about. But, lots of people obviously like it.

I've never been a coffee drinker but I've become a Tea-aholic since cutting out soda when starting my pre-op diet. I know some say you should limit the amount of caffeine you consume but I haven't. I love Starbucks shaken unsweetened green tea with splenda!!!!

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what part of coffee drinking is so bad ? The coffee itself ? Or the milk / sweetner that goes in it ? The caffeine ? What and why is it bad ? Just curious, I dislike coffee ( sorry, but the smell nauseates me.....) but love regular hot tea in the morning, and a cup of Decaf tea in the the P.M. , both with Splenda and a little milk. How is that or coffee so bad ?

I was told to cut out caffeine during the pre-op diet and up to six weeks after but don't know why. I did not drink it until I started the puréed stage and now I have it maybe 2-3 times per week. For me, I don't do artificial sweeteners so the sugar/creamer is bad too. But I noticed that a tall caramel macchiato with skim milk has the same calories & sugar as a Greek yogurt I was encouraged to eat plus 10 grams of Protein. I don't usually eat breakfast - coffee was always it for me.

Hello,

I am an advid coffee drinker. I quit prior to my surgery, but after I recovered I started back up. I know they say not to use sugar, but if I do not like the coffee I am served I use sugar instead of artificial sweetners.

I really think sugar is better for you if you have to have sweet.

During this process my A1C has dropped from 9.1% to 6.0% without the aid of medications!!! Yay...I am now medicine free!

I wish all of you the best of luck on your journey. I have a ways to go yet but am loving my band!

Keith

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
