I just say, "Thanks, I've been working at it." If they ask how I've done it, I tell them - cutting back on my food intake and doing lots of walking.

I just say, "Thanks for noticing!" If they ask how I did it, I tell them I had bariatric surgery. And then before they can say another word, I add, "...so I haven't had a starch, or a dessert, or a soda for 10 months, I eat 80 grams of Protein and drink 120 ounces of Water every day, and and I exercise 4-6 times a week." (In a friendly tone of voice and with a smile.) Then instead of thinking that I took the easy way out, they usually say something like, "Wow, no bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes, or dessert, isn't that hard?" To which my reply is, "Well, yeah, but it's SO worth it!" Works like a charm and I've never had a negative response. B)

Thank You...Dr.'s Orders!

I really didn't have much of a choice, it was either turn my life around, or die...

Most of the time "Thank you". Sometimes "Thank you, I had weight loss surgery at the beginning of February". I was pretty open with telling the world that I was having WLS. I happily answer questions about what I eat, don't eat, portion size, how often I eat, the procedure, exercise, how much I have lost, how much I plan to lose. I have had no negativity.

One woman was really interested so I showed her a diagram of how much stomach they took/what was left and even a photo of what was taken out (from another patient). She is a vet tech so is facinated by medical stuff.

I smile and thank them. Then I explain that I have really been trying to lose weight. I usually even tell them what I did at the gym that day. Some people know I have had surgery, others don't, but regardless you are making healthier choices and its paying off.

Oh and if someone says something negative about having surgery, I explain that I still have to do the work. I explain that if I eat the wrong foods, I will gain weight. I explain that if I overeat, I will gain weight. Most people just don't understand what the surgery actually does.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
