coconut Water without pulp. All natural hydrater. Or G2 hydrates your body as well. Any broth is good esp. home made if you can. Popsicles too.

Here is a list that my doctor gave me.....

Make sure you have 1/4 & 1/2 cups measuring cups.

16-32 oz Water bottle

measuring spoons (teaspoon & tablespoon)

small utensils & plates/bowls

blender (like the Magic Bullet)

Your doctor's recommended supplements

broth (Safeway has the Organics brand that has chicken, beef & veggie broth)

sugar free Jello

sugar free pudding

Sugar Free Popsicles - They are like my treat every night, but also help sooth your throat, etc.

Crystal Light (or any calorie free, noncarbonated, Decaf liquids)

Apple juice or cranberry juice diluted to 1/2 strength

Fat Free Milk or a Non Dairy

Protein drinks, powders, unflavored Protein powder

lunch Box to pack foods for on the go - I thought this was silly. But, it is actually very necessary for me. I use it almost every day.

Notebook for food journaling to keep track of supplements, liquid intake and Protein intake, etc.

I used icepacks over heating pads. Everyone is different. You just have to see what works for you.

Gas-x has been a saving grace & Gas-x strips that dissolve on your tongue to keep in your purse when you are on the fly.

Good luck with everything!!!!

I hate pre-made shakes. Plus, I found that post-op, I preferred the Water based Protein supplements as they were not a rich and easier to get down. Syntrax nectar makes some decent ones and you can get sample packs so you can try different flavors without committing to a whole jar. Have measuring cups, baby spoons to eat with for the first month, (they'll slow you down), Gas-ex, Tylenol Jr. chewables (way better than trying to crush or using a liquid that tastes like crap). Tylenol Jr chewables was all I needed for post op pain.

Supplements... Here were my instructions: I did everything chewable that I could get for the first 6 months. Today I swallow pills.

Multivitamin morning and night, (I used Centrum chewables. Tasts like skittles) I take on waking and before bed

B12 1x day

D3 1x day

Calcium citrate 3x day (never with taken with anything including iron) I took a chew at 9am, 1pm and 6pm

Iron (never to be taken with calcium)

I also take fishoil 2x day, (good for skin as well as cardiac health) and Biotin 1xday as well as 40mg of omeprazole morning and night, and a multi-strain probiotic every am.

First off you do not need Vitamin supplements for the first month. Main concentration should be Water, water and more water. If I were you, I would not stock up on anything unless the grocery store is difficult to get to. You will want outings and this gives you one. Keep in mind you wont be eatin much. From my point of view I dont care what the specialty item costs. You will get sick of broth and creamed Soups just like the Protein supplements. By the time you can eat squishy food you can get your protien in without shakes. In other words, dont buy a big keg of Protein Powder unless you really like the stuff. Most of us dont. As for mixing supplements. I was told not to do Vitamins withing 2 hours of Calcium. Again your a month out from using either one.

First off thanks everyone for taking the time to answer and for the advice. I guess I'm stressing a lot on Protein because I became vegetarian 2 months ago and even with out the surgery it's been a rough couple weeks

Do not take Multivitamins together with your Calcium, IF your Multivitamin contains Iron. If It doesn't contain Iron you can take them together.

I mainly bought everything I would need for a while because I live about 30 mins outside of town and I have 3 little kiddos too. I just tried to make it as easy as I could on myself. Just take it one step at a time, one step at a time. It seems really overwhelming when you look at everything that you will need to do. You will do great!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
