I had surgery 3 days ago. can I sleep on my side?

Recommended Posts

Hello. Sorry for my bad English.

I had gastric bypass surgery 3 days ago and I was wondering if it is OK to sleep of my side or should I sleep only on my back.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I don't see any reason you can't, as long as it is comfortable for you!

My doc said it's ok to sleep on your side.

I always have, but right now I'm too sore to manage it.

I hope you're able to sleep comfortably! That's been the hardest for me (I also had surgery 3 days ago!)

I did but I used a pillow on my side that I would sleep on and worked great for me, I am now 9 days post-op with very little pain and now I can sleep without the pillow,

Hope this helps.

I slept on my side. I used a pillow to brace/protect my tummy. I sleep with a couple of dogs that tend to kick. The pillow protection system worked great.

If you can get comfortable enough to sleep, I'd say go for it.

i'm a stomach sleeper, so other than the drug-induced nap the day I was released, I didn't sleep for a week until they removed the JP Drain.

I can only sleep on my right side because the left side has a lot of pain. I am using a wedge to sleep on my back when I do.

I lay up against a body pillow when I am on my side and it makes a big difference.

I slept in my easy chair for weeks. I had complications with my surgery so I was in pain longer. But now I can sleep on my side with no pain.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
