So I had my band placed on August 30. I am still feeling horrible and I was wondering if anyone felt the same way or if I should be concerned. Everytime I drink one of my Protein Shakes (which I had for 2 weeks pre-op with no problems) my stomach gets really upset and I start to cramp and then it seems to go right through me. I have gotten to the point where I don't even want to drink them because I am afraid of what will happen. I have tried immodium, mylanta, tums, and gas-x. I am getting so fatigued and frustrated. I broke down and had a yogurt last night and it went down really well and my stomach felt ok. At this point I am totally regretting having this band placed. Please help!

I had my band placed on Aug 26th and for the first week i had a difficult time as well that is why i drank only Clear liquids even my Protein Drink was clear from Isopure. I too had a lot of loose bm's I just took a Fiber supplement and that helped. If the yogurt makes you feel ok then do that to get your nurishment just make sure there are no chunks and that it is the drinkable kind...Dont give up things do get better!

 I was also done on 8/26 and things started feeling better on day *7*. Isopure is good since it is clear with the Protein which you need. Keep your chin up it will get better. I remember on day 4 I actually almost had a panic attack thinking about that band being in me and I now have no choice about it being there:cursing: I had feeling of wanting the damn thing outta there!! Have not felt that way since:) I did start missing food on day seven though so beware!!

good luck:thumbup:

I am day 7 and am tolerating my shakes well although i have only been having half serves as my dietician said no more than 1/2 cup of anything 3 x daily. Day 3 every thing i consumed made me feel ill until i had yogurt. Normal low fat smooth yogurt, 100mls. I was thinking of getting some yukult but the yogurt seemed to help.

I was banded on 9/2 and I'm trying the full liquids but it's giving me loose bowels, bloating feeling an another uncomfortable feeling. I've been taking mylanta, gas-x, pain med, nausea (when needed). I feel your pain, but I don't regret this decision. My body is just adjusting to the band.

Sometimes I think I feel fine and start doing normal activities only to be back in the bed a few hours later.

As everyone said, take your chewable Vitamins and Isopure and drink from the medicine cup so you won't over due it.

Good Luck and you are not alone. But we are on a wonderful journey!! This will pass and will only be a memory.

I had surgery on 9/24... I have not had any trouble with the liquids making me sick. I go back tomorrow for my 2 week follow up. I am feeling super hungry and having some minor pain near the port site....Is anyone else having this problem with the stomach being uncomfortable?

I think we are all just experiencing a huge drastic change and our bodies all handle it differently. WE CAN DO THIS....Hang in there and keep your chin up....

Can you let me know what your doctor says. I am going to give mine a call tomorrow, I have no energy because I am not even drinking my shakes now because of the pain I get with them.

Thanks for the encouragement! My port was bothering me a couple of days ago, but that has pretty much subsided, or at least I am not focusing on it!

I became lactose intolerant right after my surgery. I changed to lactose free milk to mix my drinks and I was much better.

Hey there! I was banded on Aug 25 and have only been feeling better these past 3 or 4 days. It took me about 10 days to start feeling like myself again. Hang in there... it'll get easier each day. Before you know it you'll feel like your old self again! Promise!

PS... for my first week post op I was on liquids. My doctor didn't recommend that I stay on the icky Protein Shake that I had to take for 2 weeks pre-op. I could hardly handle those for 2 weeks, let alone any more than that. If the yogurt went well, you should try some Clear Liquids and some thin Soups (tomato, chicken/beef broth, etc.). I found that I had some weird bloating pains in my tummy for the first week or so, as well. They subsided as I started feeling better.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
