?'s about losing weight out the gate...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I was banded on December 3rd and I did a pre op diet for two weeks as well as a three day liquid pre op right before surgery. My doc didn't require the two week, but from what I read it seemed it would make it easier on my body. I lost about 10 lbs doing that and then I have lost another 15 since the day before I was banded. I am pretty stoked. However, I have read A LOT on here about how you shouldn't focus on weight loss in the beginning. I know that now is a time for healing. I have been taking it easy and following the diet regimen I was given. But I guess I am nervous. I have read that I should anticipate a gain when I am given the okay for more solid food. So can you guys give me an idea how much I may gain back? Is it a definite that you gain back some? Because I plan to eat the same type things I have been, just not blended. Anyhow, please share your storeis! Thanks!

~Mya

I gained about 5 pounds once I started on solid food but I lost it pretty quickly. I knew that it would happen thanks to this board and it did not freak me out (ok, maybe a little bit).

Hi Mya, congratulations on being banded! Many people gain some weight in that period known as "Bandster Hell" but it is not a given. I continued to lose weight during that time because I worked hard to limit food intake and count calories and I hit the gym.

I wish you the best of luck for your journey

I have been banded for 18 days now. I lost about 10 pounds after the band and the rest before on the liquid diet. I am in the mushie stage now and am NOT gaining weight I am still slowly loosing. I have read on this board that LOTS of folk gain once starting mushies and soft foods but you dont have to be one of those people. When you get to your blended stage be smart, dont eat high calorie stuff, walk, drink lots of Water and you too will continue to loose!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
