Falling ill...?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Have any of you found you are more susceptible to falling ill since you have been banded?

I hardly ever got ill before the band, but I've been ill several times since - I've had a stomach bug twice, and I've just been sick for the past WEEK with a really bad bout of the flu which included fevers and loss of voice.

I am also finding that my hair is really falling out - when I wash it, I need only run my fingers through my hair and a decent wad of hair comes out... it's starting to worry me.

I have an appointment for my third fill on Wednesday so will discuss with my surgeon, just curious to see how you people are fairing?

No, I have not been sick other than seasonal allergies. As a fellow bandster, I want to stress the importance of taking your Vitamins daily and Protein. You are most likely loosing your hair and sick because of a deficiency. Have your doc check your blood asap. It is no good being thin if your sick. I can send you a list of the blood work my doc does at 1 mth, 3mth, 6mth and yearly post-op. I am not sure what stores are in Australia, but this is what I take daily and I have had normal labs.

Thankfully, my doc/nutritionist really educated me on nutrition during this process. They stress 1. Nurtition, 2. Hydration, 3. Weightloss. When I read some post it's like the docs only think about weightloss and fills.

1 Centrum Silver Multi Vitamin in the AM & 1 in the PM

2 Citrical Maxium (citrate calcium) am & 2 pm

1 slow FE (iron) costs more, but doesn't constipate like regular Iron

I haven't been getting sick... however, I've been eating really well, and taking Vitamins, so perhaps it's just because I've been doing things more healthily that I'm not a sicky?

However..... I have noticed hair loss as well. I have exceptionally thick hair, and since I've been growing it longer, I've noticed that I have to clean out the drain every time I take a shower.

Right after I gave birth to my children, I had a similar experience. I have a feeling, at least with me, it has a lot to do with hormones. I haven't noticed any hair THINNING..... so if I'm going through a hair-shedding cycle, then I'm trying to stay positive

WOW Triplet Momma, you lost 86 lbs??????? That is fabulous, you have to feel GREAT!!!

I have not gotten sick since I've been banded, thankfully. I think I've been more diligent with my Vitamins and stuff, so maybe thats why. I hope you are feeling better though and that you get a full round of blood work.:bored:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
