Who goes or knows of a good shrink in the NYC area that can deal with eating issues?

Need to seek counseling, (I've been banded for almost two years now) but I'm checking to see if anyone on the board knows a good doctor who has dealt with WLS patients before. Prefer a psychiatrist, as I am currently on meds, but I'll take any suggestions.THANKS!

I had my evaluation with Dr. Huberman as well. I believe he is a psychologist...I would also recommend him. I thought he really knew his stuff about the band.

I would reccomed Dr Nancy Ryburn. she's a psycologist though, but she's worth checking out. here is the link to her page on obesityhelp.com... http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/professionals/proProfile.php?N=5892

I had my psyc eval w/ her and i'm definitly thinking i'm going to go back to her after surgery. I felt really comfortable w/ her. Hope it all works out for you. Good luck:)

Loopy, even if you see a psychologist, they usually work inconjuction with a psychiatrist for the purpose of medication administration. That's been my experience here in Miami. So even if you see a psychologist they can still help you with the meds through their association with a psychiatrist or a medical doc.

Hi,

This first thing I did today was call my therapist. The place is called Fresh Start in Brooklyn, if you want any details email me at bbhcando@msn.com. I am very happy with them. My insurance HealthNet covers. Regards, Barbara/Librasings

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
