I quit smoking 2 weeks prior to surgery and started again 2 weeks after...I'm an IDIOT! lol..I just couldn't stay away...then after a few months,I kept telling myself "you're gonna get an ulcer from smoking and your putting yourself at even a great risk now"..so i took a smoking sensation class,Chantix and after a week have been smoke free since Sept. 16 this year! I did try to smoke the other day and it was so gross! I have smoked for the past 20 years and Chantix saved my life!

Noura my doc did not require me to stop smoking. I wanted to anyways and tried, but with that 2 week of hell diet before surgery there was no way. Not only was my food gone but my cigs too (that's what went through my head lol). Needless to say I didn't quit. Surgery went great and all but if you can quit I suggest you do. I heard you heal easier if you don't smoke plus it is better for surgery. Good luck!!

I finally quit on February 10th of this year. Chantix takes the craving away, and there is an excellent website I found for support during the trying times, called becomeanex.org. They help you keep your sense of humor during the hard parts.

I am waiting for my date too and have gone down to 4-5 cigs a day from 2 packs over the past 2 months. I just started taking out a few from a pack at first to make my packs smaller, played the wait a half hour game (upon urge to smoke make yourself wait a 1/2 hour try to distract) I tried the gum but it was to much nicotine for me and I just got a script for nicotrol inhaler. I've used that in the past and quit.

I hope you are succesful and get a date soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
