December Bandsters 2009

This may be too soon or maybe already started but I got my date for December 2nd and thought us December Bandsters should start to follow each other. Any takers? How's the preop appointments going? the preop diet? Any news is good news! (except for the fact that I have to quit smoking!!!!) :blushing:

I'm new to the site, however had my surgery Dec 23, 09, and was wondering how others are feeling that had the surgery the same day (even week), also any suggestion or key tips from other that had the surgery in the beginning of Dec.

First day home from the hospital, and I am so sore! Ouch! Started sipping liquids this morning. Going to take vitamins and meds in a few. How long does the pain last?

hahaha I haven't talked to the doc to see how big it was. I kinda suspected that I had one b/c anytime that I ate anything of spice - whew! But I really think my hernia repair is causing me more pain than the band/port. Did you experience this?

Yes, I'm still having pain associated with it and it's been two weeks since my surgery. I coughed really hard the day before yesterday and then got a sharp pain in between my breast bones. I'm trying not to irritate it now. Are you still having any discomfort?

Hi Lisa:

Congratulations! The pain will be gone before you know it. The first day home is the worst and I think us late thirty and forty somethings are a bit slower at recovering. Im post op 9 days and although I am pain free, I am still pretty fatigued. Hang in there the recovery is actually pretty fast!:)

I was also banded on the 23rd, but have only lost one pound since then. I am not feeling hungry, so that is a good thing. I just started on the mushies yesterday after my appointment with the doctor. I am feeling really good one week after surgery.

Thank you luvj0nz! I am hanging in there. I feel like I am in limbo right now. Thank goodness my Mom is here keeping my 11 year old entertained. I walked around downstairs earlier and watched TV. I am thinking about taking a nap. I slept great last night, but I am still tired. Everyone on this site is wonderful! I wish everyone a healthy journey!

Hello all hope all is well just had to tell everyone ...My wonderful Mother (joking) for Christmas got me gift certificates to 2 resturants she still mad and against me having the surgery....I know it is the thought that counts but I think it was such a mean jesture.....Sorry I had to vent!! I got home yesterday and that is when my gas pains in the chest, shoulder and arm started. Everytime I eat the pain gets worse. I'm waiting for a big burp to get this out of me. I'm also having a hard time getting in 64 oz. of Fluid because of this, but am trying hard.

My incision pains are minimal thankfully. My nurses and myself were amazed that I only had two incisions. Yeah! I hope everyone is recovering well.

It was 3-4 days after surgery before I was getting in all my fluids. I just couldn't drink that much, between sleeping, taking tiny sips, etc.
