Hi All!

Im in my hotel room..tomorrow is the day! My hubbie is alot more nervous than I am! He got pale while talking with the doctor today...and keeps asking me if Im sure I want to do this...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Ive wanted to do this for two years..hope he calms down soon! He said he would NEVER do this...but he has only like 40 lbs to lose...doesnt know how it feels being 5 1 and loading around 100 extra lbs...after I explained that ..I think he is beginning to understand...I'm so excited that I cant be nervous...Im sure about 2:30 tomorrow, I'll start my nervousness!

For all those that are having surgery tomorrow..Im right there with ya! POPPYRED:thumbup:

Good luck!!!!!

Best of luck to anyone going in for their surgery today! :rolleyes2: Poppy, you will do great!

Good luck Poppy and Happy Re-Birthday!!!!

I go for my pre-op interview with the surgeon on Tuesday the 15th and am scheduled for surgery the 18th. Already started the diet. Im a little nervous, but more anxious to get this over with. I've already set my mind to commit 100% to this, including exercise. I joined the gym a couple weeks ago. This liver shrinking process has me a little concerned. I did have an alcoholic beverage or two the other day to calm my nerves. Will this have an adverse affect?

Sticks -

You and I have our pre-op and surgery on the same days. I'm nervous about the liver shrinking thing too. My doc has me on a low carb diet and I lost really fast the first week, but now it seems that I'm stalled. I have a call into my docs office and I'm just waiting to talk to the nurse. What pre-op diet are you on?

The same low carb/high protein diet. I was under the assumption I would have to go on a liquid diet here the last week, but they tell me its "up to you" whether its liquid or solids, just has to be low carb and high protein. They also phoned in a prescription for some kind of meds that are supposed to build up red blood cells. I have lost my appetite, so the diet is not really bothering me. What scares me is the possibility they will get inside me and find the liver hasn't shrunk enough and have to postpone it. If the surgery runs into next year, my out of pocket will triple.:rolleyes2:

Myself and my twin surgery date is december 18th . We are nervous but excited.

In this, as in everything else, I imagine you're glad you have each other to lean on through this experience. How exciting for both of you!

Well folks, here it is - the latest and greatist! . I am AMAZED at how much this list has grown! Please don't hesitate to let me know if I need to make any modifications.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with all of the December 11th bandsters, as well as the December bandsters in recovery. Hang in there, it gets better.

Finally got my surgery date. I changed doctors. Went to see my new dr today. Dr. Nicholson. I didnt think he would be able to do my surgery until January. My date is Saturday December 19! I don't even have to take off of work.

Have to start my liquid diet tomorrow! Only 1 week. So happy for that. Drinking my last Coke right now! Cant believe its going to happen!

December 28th is the big day for me........can't wait to start off the new year with a new outlook on life.:rolleyes2:

Hi everyone!

I was banded December 10th in Southern California. 2 days out. I've been reading posts here but haven't posted because I thought that I might pull out at the last minute. Going into surgery I was shaking violently! Pain isn't too bad with liquid loritab every 5-6 hours. I've almost picked up leftovers from my kids and ate it without even thinking about it. I'm not hungry, even though my stomach is growling. Tired. I can feel the gas inbetween my shoulderblades. Less painful than a c-section.

I am a self pay, low BMI-er. my weight is 210, and height is 5'9. I wear a size 18/20. and I'm about to turn 31. I've struggled with food most my life. I am very aware that my food addiction is Emotional. I'm taking away my addiction. Hats off to everyone who had to do a pre-surgery diet...I was so nervous, eating everything, I'm not sure I could have done it. Anyways, looking forward to seeing everyones progress.

OMG! I couldn't have gone right to work. Today (day 5) was the first day I thought I was feeling well enough to go to work.

I was glad I started the liquid diet two weeks ahead of surgery. I became ill the first three days. I think part of it was lack of caffiene but it really kicked my butt at first. I was relieved I didn't have to go through that immediately after surgery.

I will not be returning to work right away. I'm a teacher and our last day of school is the 18th. My surgery is the 19th. So I wont have to go back until January. :rolleyes2:

My surgery is Wednesday the 16th, and I'm a little more anxious than I had thought I would be. I went for a pre-op physical yesterday, as required by my hospital, and in the 8 days that I've eaten nothing but Optifast shakes, I have somehow lost only 5 pounds. I'm disappointed - I know how stupid that is, but I am. I had this idea that I'd take off like 10 or 15 pounds in the two weeks before surgery, and I've done everything I have committed to do, but only lost five (with four days to go). I guess the older we get the harder it is to just starve it off, but this is the least successful I've ever been on a diet. Hell, I've done far better every time on my first week of Weight Watchers (the twenty times I've had a first week!). I haven't put as much as a fingernail of solid food into my mouth. I just don't get it!

Ok, enough complaining. The good news is I am finally able to sleep most of the night with my stomach on empty. I think that was the hardest thing about the shakes!

Congratulations to everyone. I can't wait for my turn Wednesday.
