I can't wait to hear from the others that were scheduled for today!

I was one of them, until the anesthesiologist took a look at my throat and listened to my lungs. Turns out my minor sinus congestion was not so minor. Because of the risk of pneumonia, and that I have airway issues (sleep apnea) anyway, she won't touch me for at least two weeks! AH! I was so bummed this morning, and went out for a big pancake Breakfast (terrible, I know). I was freaking out because my 90 day window for insurance approval is about to expire and I will have re-submit everything. Also, the word at my husband's job is that the insurance will be changing on Jan 1, so if I don't get it done by the end of the year, I'm going to have to start over with a whole new ins co!

I feel a lot better now that I've talked to the ins coordinator at the the surgeons ofc - she said not to worry - she's already working on the new approval. I'm tentatively rescheduled for the 18th. I stopped by my pcp, and she gave me the stongest antibiotic she could. I think she was just as bummed - she's been trying to get me to do the lap band for almost 2 yrs now! Actually now I'm kind of glad. I don't want to risk complications. An the 18th works out better work schedule-wise.... more time to re-coop with the holiday thrown in. Thank goodness we didn't plan to travel this Xmas!

Anyway, I hope everyone else who was scheduled today sailed through with flying colors. You guys are in my thoughts.

I got THE call today...my surgery date is at 1 pm on DECEMBER 17TH. Doesn't it kinda feel like a birthday??

My real birthday is ten days later, so December is going to be a nice month for me in the future.

KarynA thank you so much for doing this December bandsters..you are the one who started the thread, right?? I donlt know how to get a profile picture up...I tried and thought I had done it right but now it doesn;t show up anywhere...

I am supposed to be on the pre-op liquid fast for 14 days, but they are going to have to go with 13 days...since I just got the call today...at least I have all the right goodies to drink and am prepared for the two weeks after as well, plus the mushy stuff.

G-d is so good..this date fits right where it should be. I finish a huge project on the 16th of December...what a blessing to have a humble spiritual holiday season.

May everyone be blessed with their December brithday. Let me know those of you who are having it done today and before me...KarynA yours is TODAY!!!

CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YOU ARE FINE AND WELL.

love to everyone >smile<

Sara, I'm the 17th too! My surgery is at 7:30 am. Should be home shortly after 12:00 noon. I start my pre-op on Monday, I'm doing 10 days of high protein/low to no carb solid foods.

Our stats are pretty similar, but you must be a bit taller than I am, we have about the same BMIs. I'm so looking forward to having a BMI of less than 40 as one of my first goals.

Are you Miss Tori?? I cracked up when I read about Bruce being inside you.

Guess I could name my band. I wish I knew my Guardian Angel's name. Maybe they would not like a band being named after them, but hey, "if your right hand offends, cut it off." This is my foundation for accepting the band.

:wink2: I am now taking suggestions for the name of my band...

love your humor

I am on the East Coast, so if you are in Colorado, we're prpobably heading in around the same time. I will pray for you that day......

Sara, yes that's me! So you've read my blog, huh? You should become a follower. One day, I may get enough followers to become a "cult" leader. lol Probably not.

I started my blog in '08 when we started our IVF process. Unfortunately, it didn't work and now I'm here trying to lose weight so we can do donor eggs or embryos. Since my age won't play a factor, we just have to worry about my weight. I can get lighter, but I can't get younger! Go figure.

Yeah! My band got approved :-) My surgery date is set for December 9th. The forum has been great to know I am not alone! I have lost 14 lbs since my consultation. I will drop back in after my surgery and let you know how it went! YEAH for US, we are taking control :-)

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
