December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

*Note to self* (and fellow dec. bandsters)

I have found that putting my shake in a wine glass makes all the difference LMAO ok so maybe it's just in my head and the fact I added yogurt but either way, shake number two was MUCH better lol

That will be all - carry on.

Congratulations to the recently banded and best wishes to those of us having surgery tomorrow! (I think there was 10 of us at last count!)

As I write this I know that one of you is recovering right now and another will be in surgery tomorrow. I wish you and everyone else in this exclusive club of ours the very best. Count me in for the December group. December 15 is the date for me. I'm on day 2 of pre-op liquid diet. I am doing something that is just like Optifast and is a high Protein Drink X 5 per day. It's not fun but not impossible either. It's only another step in the journey. My wife said I was irritable last night so I blamed the diet. I wonder how long I can play that card?

I plan on using it right on up until I'm ready for solid foods! And actually, I do think it has something to do with it.

Welcome!

great to hear from you!

I am home from surgery, stayed one night in the hospital, have 6 incision spots, 5 are about an inch long and the 6th where the port is is about 3 to 4 inches long. No stitches they used super glue. Really feeling pretty darn good in fact much better then anticipated. Pain medication is a combo of Tylenol and Oxic.. something or another. Will remain on clear liquid till next Tuesday when I go in for check up. Terri

My liquid diet starts today. Last night I was seriously morning food that I will not get to eat at all these next two weeks and food that I will probably never get the rest of my life.

I actually had a big bowl of rice last night, since that is on the list of food you shouldnt eat.

no Jello, how come i never heard that before, if you know please tell me ok thanks Larry good luck with surgery i am going on 7th

Larry, I think everyone's pre-op and post-op varies a little, depending on the doctor. I suggest you check with your doctor's office and ask about the jell-o, if they say you can have it, then enjoy! My doctor's office says I CAN have jell-o and I plan to! You and I are having surgery on the same day! What time is your procedure? I have to be there at 7:30 for surgery at 9:00.

Whoever is keeping track of us forgot ME!! Today is my pre-op appointment and I will be banded on Friday December 18th. Like everyone else, I'm excited beyond belief. I was a little terrified about starting liquids tomorrow, but then read someone's post about it "not being so bad." Good - and thanks! I needed to hear that. When I first decided to do this I was full of hope - I really believed this was going to be the beginning of the end of food being my devil. But as the months have passed from an idea to surgery two weeks away I have grown less ... not hopeful, but I can't think of a good word for it. I'm not banking on this being the be-all-and-end-all. I'm too scared to believe it. But I sure hope it is! I am certainly going to DO my best! My doctor believes it is. You all probably believe it is. So I had better start believing again. Anyway, my two weeks starts tomorrow!

Surgery went great yesterday! I was so nervous before I left, but then after they hooked me up to an IV, I realized it was no turning back! I arrived at 11:30 and left at 6:30. They found that I had a hiatal hernia and a hole in my esophogus, which Dr. Hollis fixed during surgery. Incisions are sore, and the gas is awful, but over all feeling pretty good! Thanks to all!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
