Flying and fills

Recommended Posts

ok, so this may seem like a strange question but has anyone flown somewhere far on a plane after getting one or a few fills? I will be traveling on a plane in a few months and the flight will be 17-20 hours long. I have read that for some people it might be hard to eat and/or drink while you are in the air. There is no way I can not drink ( eating is no big deal but I need Water while flying!).

So before I fly should I have some of my fill removed just so I can survive the two flights 17-20 hours each within a 2 week span?

I have not gotten a fill yet but I am just wondering if it is something I should discuss with my doctor before I get one.

Definitely discuss it with your doctor. I was leaving the country last spring and was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to get medical attention if I ran into a major stuck episode (I'm a worry-wart). The NP said I could come in and have as little as 0.2 cc removed. It turned out, as the trip got neared, I wasn't having any food issues, so I didn't bother with it. With that long of a trip in mind, your doctor may want to remove a little though, since there's no way of knowing ahead of time how you're band will react to such a long flight.

I went on an 8 hr. flight to Hawaii back in July and ever since I returned, my band has remained a lot tighter. Go figure? I have lost 17 pounds since July - so I'm okay with it!

I am living in S. Korea too, banded Sept 14th by Dr. Kang...small world huh?

Anyway, Im going to Texas to see family on the 9th of November so Ill be sure to post the 80million hour flight results. Ive heard it can be somewhat painful and I am supposed to get my first fill next week....I hope that doesnt make things worse....

I frequently fly across the country.

I try not to eat anything and have only Clear liquids the day of the flight.

I can feel tightening, but it's never hurt and I always go back to normal that same day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
