Hi I was banded Wed 10/7 Iam doing well physically but also dreaming of food I almost ate a cheeze it without even realizing it. I finally went to Walmart last night and bought some carnation instant Breakfast drink (no sugar added) just for something different. I felt like it helped and seemed like a treat compared to the protien drink I have been drinking-muscle milk light. My mom suggested warm skim milk, I have not tried that yet but she said it would be very satisfying. I aslo bought diet hot chocolate, that was really good to. Hang in there you know you can do it:thumbup:

Hi, I'm new here. Just had my band done on Tuesday of this week. I'm hungry, too! Physically I'm doing well.

I'm so sick of Protein drinks. Can't wait to get progressed to soft foods.

Hi everyone!

I'm also 4 days banded and feeling hungry! Broths aren't filling, so the Protein drinks at least satisfy me a little more. It helps to know that others are going through this as well (I was starting to wonder if it was just in my head!)

I was banded on Thursday as well, but have had zero hunger since then. My surgeon's post op diet is a little more liberal - I wasn't restricted to clear fluids so I think that helps. SF Carnation Instant Breakfast is on the OK list, as are Protein Shakes. Try to get some Protein in somehow and that should help with the hunger.

I understand exactly how you feel.. I was banded on Oct 20 and was on a liquid diet for 10 pryor.. I was absolutely starving. I know this sounds gross, but it really helped me.. I put crunchy foods in my mouth and chew to mush and then spit it out.. Then I drink my Protein shake.. This helps me. I miss chewing on something.. It's a mind game..

Oh I am SOOOO with you!!! I had my surgery on Friday, October 21st. I have prepared for this procedure for 8 months (if you dont count the years ofresearch and contemplating that I did) and I still couldnt prepare for thefeelings that I would have post-operatively, particularly regarding hungerpains. For some reason, I honestly believed that after the surgery, I would besore, uncomfortable, and unable to physically do the things that I normally doon a regular basis (like any surgery). But I didnt expect to be so hungry 3days after surgery. I thought my stomach would be swollen and that would beenough restriction so that I wouldnt feel the hunger pains. Is it normal tofeel hunger this early?

My Dr. has me on a strict liquid diet for the first 2 weeks after surgery.Nothing but sugar free clear drinks, sugar free/fat free Jello, chickenstock/beef stock, and my Protein shakes. The second 2 weeks, I can beginincorportating fat free/sugar free yogurt, apple sauce, fat free/sugar freepudding, and fat free strained or pureed thin Soups. I can't eat any solids for1 month (no eggs, no tunafish, etc). I am so sad! I keep telling myself this isgoing to be worth it, but my god, this first month is going to be pure hell!Any suggestions anyone?

I I am so with you. I was banded on 10/18 so I am only 1 week post op. the first few days were ok, but the last 2 days I find myself constantly thinking about food. I am on liquid diet for the first month, so have only been eating Soup broth, and my Protein Shakes. I did find some really good Protein Shake recipies on the Lap band websight, but am at the point if I drink one more of those things I think I may vomit. Just thinking about drinking one makes my stomach churn. If anyone has suggestions or good recipies, please share, I am stuggling too!

I was banded 10/17 and i have had very few issues with hunger i am struggling to get the amount of fluids down i need! I have been having nausea and burning like crazy! I have tried taking taking antacids and antiemetics and they work but just for a little while! I actually can start day 8 (tommorow) with pureed foods and mashed potatoes etc. I see the doctor tommorow for post op visit and hoping he can give me advice for relief!

I am having the same problem. I was banded on Friday and while I was still in recovery I was dreaming of dancing pizzas and chicken pot pies...lol I literally cried when they told me I was only allowed to have some broth. BROTH???? REALLY???? lol I'm very emotional and depressed. I've cheated a little and bought myself some baby food, but mostly sticking to liquids. My stomach is ALWAYS growling and uncomfortable. Can this be healthy? lol I'm very much looking forward to mushies in another week.

I bought some baby food too, and have just used a baby spoon and taken really small bites, have not had any trouble with that, a nice break from the Protein. I also found some smoothie mixes in the frozen foods at Walmart and mix my Protein with those, actually not to bad, can hardly taste the chalk :) Frozen popcicles and sugar free fudgecicles also are a nice change. We will get through this, I just keep telling myself, shopping for small clothes will be SO WORTH ALL THIS! Someone also suggested to me to keep a journal, write down anything, the good, the bad the ugly, frustrations, emotions etc. Doodle whatever you need to get all those feelings on paper, I am going to try that too, sure cant hurt... Good luck with your journey!:D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
