12 months since my band fitted need help?

Recommended Posts

Hi - I had my band fitted in Belgium 12 months ago - I have lost in total 24lb but need to loose another 84lb- it has taken me 6 fills to get to feel any restriction and that was only sorted at the end of June this year - I had 5 fills in London and 1 fill at the hospital group in Bromsgrove - I need some help and support please as I seem to have lost my way

I cannot seem to get my head together and fight the band in that I find ways around the band ie smoothies, chocolate, sweets - all go down without a problem and Pasta, bread, beef, chicken get stuck - I feel like a real moaning Minnie and should be able to eat well and stop the bad habits but I am so disappointed in my total weight loss when I hear about everyone doing so well and I am stuck at 18 stone 1 lb -

I know now that with a band you loose slowly but I just cannot think what to have for Breakfast - currently having smoothies x lunch - having Soup x dinner - anything that goes down easily x Maybe I was looking for a miracle with this band and know some fellow bandsters will look at horror at my lack of purpose but Help anyone can you give me a little help or support please xx thank you :)

Hi:

Time to start over with your eating habits. I think it worked best for me when I was eating the same healthy choices each day and that's all that I would have in my house.

Try having some oatmeal or cream of wheat for Breakfast. I'm always tightest in the morning so I have to have something that goes down easy for breakfast.

For lunch, why not a multigrain Cereal bar crushed up in some fat free yogurt. Or, crackers with some cheese? Or, some Soup with the broth drained out? Something solid so that it stays with you for 3 to 4 hours.

Late afternoon snack - ten or twelve almonds? sugar free Jello? A stick of string cheese?

dinner - Anything you want to have that is solid food, but just enough to give you full feeling. For most people that is probably about 1/2 to 1 cup.

Night time - my toughest time - sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, crushed ice with crystal light on it, sugar free hot chocolate. Go to bed early to avoid late night snacking.

Best wishes to you. The above menu may not work for you but it can give you some ideas on how to approach your new start with your band.

I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

Thank you Sue x that is great x any information will be useful x I think that in my head I still think that by doing nothing the band will work and I do know that this is not going to happen - so thank you again as I was thinking of having another fill but worry then that I wont be able to eat anything x

Hang in there. It's never too late to start over with your eating habits. I think Sue gave some great advice. I would suggest limiting your sugar intake to 5-7 grams of sugar per serving. Also try to get in 50-60 grams of Protein a day and try to follow a low carb diet. I measure everything in 1/2 cup servings and eat 3 meals a day, no Snacks except for a no sugar added fudge bar after dinner. Lastly, try to stay hydrated with sugar-free drinks. Be sure to get in your 64 oz. daily. :)

I'm a newbie and have only been banded for 7 weeks so maybe someone else can offer more advice.

Do you know what triggers your over-eating or need to cheat the system?

It is depression that does it to me and with a couple of pills every day, I am able to keep my head on straight and do what I am supposed to do.

Seek out a therapist or psychiatrist and see if you can get your head straight, the rest will hopefully follow.

You're not weak, your wiring just needs a little work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
