I have an appointment to get a fill this Friday at my last appointment 6 weeks ago. However, I'm not sure I need it. I'm eating about 1100-1200 calories a day and I am working out and am satisfied. I'm not losing weight super fast, but I am losing weight. I don't PB very often, but will if I eat too fast as well as sliming sometimes. Should I get the fill?

This is some of the criteria from my doctor for needing a fill: If you feel like you're able to eat bigger meals then your doctor's recommendation and you're getting hungry in less than a few hours after eating your meals, you might be due a fill. Also, you should be losing 1 - 2 lbs/week.

Since you're unsure if you need a fill because you're pretty happy with your restriction now, I'd probably hold off, especially if it's not difficult to schedule a fill with your office. Your calorie intake seems great at this point.

Follow your gut... If you are happy with the rate you are losing and the amount of restriction you have then I wouldn't have one. I only got filled every couple of months and it took me almost a year and a half to lose 70lbs, but that was ok with me. Do what feels right for you and don't let people pressure you into losing weight faster than you are comfortable with.

I would say no. I like to keep my band a bit looser so I stay full after eating, but still can swallow my pills and eat without worrying about PBing often. It sounds like you are at a good point. I wouldn't mess with it and take a chance on being miserable. I have never made advance appointments for fills. I wait until I start getting hungry and eating more.

I would say no. Please don't let anyone pressure you into getting a fill. Or get one just because most people do. It sounds like you are in a good place, and I would leave it be.

My ultimate goal is to have zero fill in my band for life. Currently I have 2cc in a 10cc band and it is PERFECT for me! I eat the way I should (normally, do indulge occasionally) work out as required (4-5X per week) and am losing. I am losing at a slower pace, but that works great for me.

I am in no hurry to lose 100lbs in a year or even 2. I would rather have a healthy lifestyle and not have to worry about the problems that come with a filled band..(PB'ing, sliming, stuck episodes). I have not had ANY issues whatsoever with my band since I have had 2cc's in it. I can eat what I want without issue (chicken breast, broccoli, carrots). I can drink with my meals and live like a non-banded person.

The band has taught me a lifestyle change, and I am doing great no depending on it so far. If I start to go back to my old ways, I can always get it filled, but definitely don't want to.

Only you can decide which is best for you..keep us posted!

Thanks for all of the great advice! I called and cancelled my fill and I'll go when I start feeling a little more hungry. I started working out again last week after taking time off for my port revision surgery and I'm worried if I get a fill I won't be able to eat enough to balance the work outs.

I truly believe the reason people have problems with their band and lose them or have severe reflux and other problems stem from keeping the band too tight.

Agreed JMS... I actually think I am a a bit too tight and need to be unfilled a tiny bit.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
