Recommended Posts

Were any of you able to eat macaroni and cheese, or rice during mushy stage?

I will be starting mushies this coming weekend, and am CRAVING mac and cheese bad!

Honestly i would not even TRY either one. Rice and Pasta are known foods that can cause you to get stuck. Even though you do not have restriction i would not try it yet.

Try these for your "cheese fix"

Guacamole, re fried Beans, picante sauce and Cheez whiz melted( the kind in the jar ) layer them and eat them like " dip" just with out chips. its YUMMY .

You might try some brocolie and cheese Soup .

I can give you some more ideas if you want ?

I was banded April 1st. I have yet to eat any bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes, fruit or Cereal. These are known refined sugar carbs that my Dr. says I cannot have. I'm not sure if I'll ever have them again. I know this: Carbs DO NOT satisfy my hunger AT ALL. If I am hungry, truly hungry, I should eat (or drink) Protein. I strongly suggest you do not start with carbs especially if you are just getting into the mushy stages of food. Stick with scrambled eggs (with or without melted cheese), egg salad, cottage cheese, stuff like that. You'll fill up fast and won't trigger a carb craving. Good luck!

I agree with all thats been said. Pasta and (especially) rice are foods that can expand as they go down. If you have just been banded, the last thing you want to do is aggravate your stomach while its still getting used to the band. Also, you have probably been off carbs for quite awhile now (especially if you had a preop diet), so why re-activate that craving? Good luck!

Another option for your mac & cheese craving could be cauliflower (cooked until very tender) & cheese. It's not the same, but I also would hold off on macaroni.< /p>

I'm in my thrid week post band and had some mac in cheese the other night and was fine.

I just ate it one peice of macaroni at a time and chew it till there was nothing left in my mouth.

If you do try Pasta, I wouldn't recommend al dente. Boil the heck out of it, until it's almost mushy. As mentioned above, pasta can expand a little. Especially al dente.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
