Living With This Fill

Recommended Posts

I have a fill that might be too tight but this is probably the only way I can lose weight. I can drink all liquids at any time but in order to consume any type of food I need to have something hot first otherwise I am pucking in a few min. and having that horrible chest pain like a heart attack. Should I just ride this out or have a slight unfill, have only had this fill for five days. Any help would be great.

have an unfill.

There is nothign surer than you will eventually want and need to eat reasonably and you are going to end up having multiple PB episodes. This can damage your band, and cause slippage.

You may start to have reflux symptoms, especially night reflux, which is also dangerous.

You will probably find you dont lose weight as well as you thought you would due to under-eating.

You will pretty soon start to feel like a social leper as you cant risk eating in front of anyone or anywhere where you dont have full control of the menu.

Honestly, you'll be miserable very quickly, probably wont have much reward for such sacrifice and may even suffer band problems as a result.

I had a fill a couple weeks ago and I was feeling the same way. I had the doctor remove some of it and I'm still losing but slow.

Jachut is right! Don't risk having problems with the band. I've had to have revision surgery and believe me, you don't want to risk it.

Losing a little slower than you'd like is better than losing the band altogether!

Good luck!

I'm having the same isssue. Got a fill on wed. 9/30 and can only keep down a few bites or liquids. I called my dr.'s office to see if I should wait a few days or go for a small un-fill. Hopefully, they will get back to me soon. I think I've heard of ways to relax it a little. Does anyone know how?

You really should get that unfill. But, in the meantime, drink warm liquids. They seem to go down better. Also, stay hydrated. Dehydration can make the band feel tighter.

It's better to lose slowly than risk losing your band OR your health.

Good luck to you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
