fat under the belt

Recommended Posts

what the hell.... how do I get rid of the fat under my belt... it is the fatest part of me now and it isn't going away. I am at 225 (down from 320 at my heaviest) and I want to start working out to get rid of this... does anyone know the best excercise?

As far as I know you can't "spot" reduce any way except liposuction. You can tighten the muscle under the fat and sculpt your body that way, but you can't just reduce fat in one area. However as you continue to lose, that will go too.

Cardio cardio cardio. Its the only way to really reduce fat. Preferably with some strength training too - not to spot reduce but to burn even more fat. Also, when you do loads of cardio, you can tend to get very wasted and lose a bit of muscle, and strength training counteracts that.

Most of the "before" stomachs you see in Tummy Tuck pics are still substantially fatty, a true loose skin only apron is very thin. So you *should* be able to substantially reduce the size of the bulge below the belt. But past a certain point, only cutting it off is going to have the effect you're after. And if you can, why not cut it off instead of waiting forever to lose it?

But if no PS is in your future, good old fashioned hard work and time is your best weapon.

Once again Juchut is right - cardio, cardio, cardio. The only thing I will add is that cardio on its own didnt kill my "second" belly. For me interval cardio was the key to losing (or at least making it smaller)

I know exactly what you mean, we both started around the same weight and are both at about the same weight now. I do sit-ups, crunches, 3 abdominal weight machines at the gym and yes the gut has gotten smaller but not enough for me so I have scheduled 3 consults with plastic surgeons to see what we can do about getting rid of it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
