Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Recommended Posts

Hey Girls~

Man, that second workout kicked my ass yesterday. I was like melted butter all night, and my legs were sore and tight. I did not make it in this morning, just changed the alarm...and could go back to bed now. I think cause it took more to get through the workout...I am still not over it. But, I did it, and now know I can do it again!

I will have to investigate the pressure cooker. I've "heard" of it...but never really knew what one was. I like the idea of a slow cooker in one...I don't have a lot of space in the kitchen, HATE MY KITCHEN!

I have a long day today, and a meeting from 6-7! F*^%ing sucks. Sorry, but I am tired and cranky...my poor chillllren!

Have a great day!

Hello everyone! Today is a good day in that I am still on plan at 11:06 in the AM . . . we have to start somewhere, right :0)

Landlord Installment #3

------------------------

I got a letter from her attorney yesterday. It said that I should have given her notice that I was leaving in May of 2009 . . . and I am moving out October 31st??? He says this because she handwrote at the bottom of the lease that she would like 90 days notice if lease is not to be renewed prior to expiration (lease expired August 1st, I am leaving October 31st which is 90 days past the lease expiration and we did not execute a new lease).

Anyway it is a weak argument at best on their side . . . the holdover lease clause is very specific. The lease expired August 2009 and we are now "holdover tenants - either party must give 30 days notice to terminate" per the lease."

He also wrote in the letter "in non-legal terms you are sandbagging her by not giving her sufficient notice." This letter is not even on letterhead, the wording is poor and the argument is weak . . . where did she find this lawyer???? All I can say is lucky me, lol.

The only thing in the letter that worries me at all is that it says she will be exercising her right to have various tradesman inspect the property for damages above normal wear and tear and I will be liable for all work performed. In the case that there is any excess of the security deposit, it will be refunded to me. So . . . it sounds like she is planning to keep my security deposit for damages - there are no damages except for an issue with a closet door that had a small divot in it from an indoor basketball hoop . . . and I already replaced it.

I know the house is in good shape but I get the feeling that she is going to try to use up my security deposit. I am taking pictures of everything and my lawyer will be attending the final walkthrough and key handoff, unbeknownst to her. She has to provide an itemized list of anything deducted from the security deposit . . .if there is anything frivolous on there (what are the chances???) then I will take her to small claims court.

Anyway, the lawyer I have been talking to is a company lawyer who is advising me as a friend on the side. My risk seems to be pretty small. It seems like the worst case might be the loss of a security deposit, I can live with that risk.

The lawyer I have been speaking to said that this initial letter is always supposed to present the strongest case and any specific examples of issues as a scare tactic to hopefully cause me to back down and concede to any requests. There are no specific examples and anything referenced is exceedingly weak.

Can you believe I actually feel more comfortable after receiving this letter, lol??? This is my first ever letter directed at me from an attorney in my life (and hopefully the last). I feel very confident that this situation is under control.

Pam, it amazes me that you have that much drive!!! I need some, can you send some over?

Glad you are feeling better Judy!

Michelle, when I read what you said it reminded me of when I was still in school. My dad would come in every morning and say 'rise and shine, time to get out of bed!', he would say that a few times and then my mom would yell up and tell us to get out of bed. Funny the things that bring back those memories!!! Love the picture of MO and your daughter riding and loving her horse!!

Laura, where are you????????

Haydee I hope you are not sick!!!!

Heather... sounds like you have all your ducks in a row on this one. And I too am glad you are moving. She really sounds desperate.

Jane.. what's happening at work????

Zumba class starts the 17th and I'm excited! Kris is going to go with me. She asked the lady if she thought Kris and I would die and she assured us we could work at our own pace.

Haydee and Laura... you ladies ok???

Just stopping to say HI, I miss you and readup when I get a chance. Sorry everyone seems to be fighting various cruds--we have been here as well. Rick got really sick, scared me! But we are well again, back to work again....yuck!

Job is not great, contemplating my options. Dr. has disappointed me in several ways of late. Oh well....it's a paycheck!!!

Grandkids are wonderful!!! We are taking Kinsey and Connor to the balloon fiesta tomorrow---well we are going to Albq. tomorrow, spending the night in a motel, letting them swim, going to do something fun for kids for dinner, then early Saturday (5AM) we are getting on a bus headed to balloon park, and will watch hundreds and hundreds of hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes go up!

Kinsey has seen one or 2 on assorted trips to ABQ--Connor is thinking birthday party balloons. He keeps telling me he is going to pop them! LOL he is in for a surprise!

I am looking forward to the trip----just them and Rick and I. We have tethers! They are curly like a phone cord, and have velcro straps on them, to go from wrist to wrist----we use them from belt loop to belt loop, keeps them from wandering too far, and they have full use of their hands.

Jane, hope Charlie is shocked into action of some sort. Kinda like Judy's minister......but is sounds like both might need a 2X4 to the head!!!

Haydee, I keep picturing you in one of those dresses, and the shoes, and sorry, the bubble hummer, just does not fit in!!! LOL Then again, in my opinion a long white stretch limo even would pale in comparison--you and your wedding will be so pretty!!!

Pamela, was listening to the Ipod on a ride we took, and the music made me think of you and the concert you missed....made me so sad! We took the bike down a river road, to look at colors--was beautiful! Chilly, but worth it! We stopped to have dinner, and the ride home after that was COLD!! LOL

Well time to get ready for work, I actually have tomorrow off, not sure why, they did not offer an explanation, only that the office is closed. Who cares??? I don't have to be there!!! LOL

Everyone take care!!!

Hi! I'm here! I just had warehouse work today so I haven't been at my desk all morning... I am getting sick though. Stuffy stuffy nose and some congestion. But did that stop me from going swimming last night? No siree... My mom is out of town or else she would have whooped my butt. But it was warm yesterday and the Water was warm and everyone else was in so I just got in, LOL...

Ok, I think I might get a pressure cooker. I'll look into getting one like you Judy. One that does everything so that way I can get rid of my slow cooker and just have one thing that is taking up space.

Heather - whoa, aren't you glad you are leaving?? Sounds like it might get messy but I'm glad that you have your stuff together.

Janey - Pam needs to send all of us some mojo! Sending you hugs!

Judy - Ok, this is the last I will say about the church thing... God has a way of making everything work out in the end. He will have to face what he has done to the church...

Pam - I miss you! Why oh why do we have to work? Why can't we just be able to hop on a jet and come see each other??

Michelle - I don't know why but pets tend to crawl into crotchtall areas, ha ha ha. It's because it's warm?? Ha ha ha. Anytime Juan lays down there is at least one dog snuggled up between his legs. That's also one of the reasons that we don't let the dogs sleep with us anymore. Juan sleeps spread eagle and one dog would always want to be all up there, lol...

Kat - the bubble hummer would be for the VIOLETS! Won't that be a sight to see? All these ladies wearing gold lame come pouring out of this huge bubble hummer, he he he... Glad to hear Rick is doing good. Keep us updated on your job situation...

I am eating a late lunch and I'm having the best egg salad sandwich. YUM YUM YUM... I should have bought two.

Good evening, Violets..

Janie.. set yourself little goals. Make your first one to get back under 300. That will do a lot for your mental attitude. Too big of a goal is just overwhelming. You CAN do this!! We're all here to support you.

Beef stew for supper was very yummy on a chilly fall evening. Rehearsal was fun. We are playing for the Peace Concert and we are also background music for a reception at the college on the 15th.

My cough is almost all gone and my nose is not stuffy anymore, thank goodness.

Tomorrow is a church ladies luncheon. I've never been and they have been meeting for several months now. I was told they don't talk about church stuff, so we'll see.

Grady was a sweetheart today. He's so darn cute at this stage. He loves to sit and play with the toys and smile, smile, smile. Ethan is pretty good with Grady, but I can tell there is some jealousy there.

Well, off to bed to read for a bit. I really want to finish this book so I can start the new Mitch Albom one.

Everyone sleep well!!

(((hugs)))Janie!!!!

Good Friday Morning, Vi's!~~

((Janie)) I agree w/what Judy said... small goals, back to basics, you CAN do it!! We're here to cheer you on!

So I go to the cardiologist once a year, and when I check-out they make me make my next year's appointment, but I can barely remember what I'm doing next week, let alone next YEAR... so good thing they call to remind me because I have to go TODAY! whoops. Seriously. A year out? Ay yai yai!

Happily, there's a SB nearby, so pumpkin spice latte, here I come!

Enjoy the day!

Here is my story: I can not keep my eyes open. I did not workout...the double workout day was the last one:(

Hate that...but I can not go. I got home from mtg at 7:45, didn't go to sleep until 9:30 and just wanna curl up and go to bed. We have dinner plans w/ Jenny tonight...then a free weekend.

Jane, Charlie is gonna be double pissed since he is the LAST to know. Keep us posted!

Laura...hope the man child lets you type us up today...we miss you!

Haydee...can't wait to see the shoes! I got two invitations this week for two weddings in Nov (one on the 14th and one on the 21st)! Can't wait to get yours! Did anyone raise their hand to scout out places for us? Please let me NOT do it!

OK...pop in from work, kids are testing today:rolleyes::thumbup:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
