Did you ever call your surgeon and ask if you could have some food? If not, you should.

Restless monkey Yes I did and I talked to the nurse and she said NOTHING. I asked if I could have a cucumber a day or maybe a hardboiled egg in place of one of my shakes and she said no. I was ok with that. I dont know why I ate that pizza I havent took a dang bite of anything in 9 days now this. It just makes me mad. Im ashamed of myself.

Well, if they said no, then it must be important for you to follow it. At least you know that, instead of wondering if it's just a "form" diet and you are suffering needlessly.

I just read on another post you've lost 17 pounds; hopefully that boost will help you hang in there!

Just remember, you aren't the only one who has struggled with austere harsh diets. You can make it!

I can empathize with you. I'm already banded but recently I have fallen off the wagon. Just been eating the wrong foods lately and not exercising :blushing: Lets get back on track together!

Marmar did your doc want you to lose 20? Or am I (entirely possible!) confused?

My dear friend. Eat the pizza, your human, we make errors. If we would be perfect we would be divine. You ate the pizza, was it good? Good! Now just forget it and go back to your original diet. I read a funny today at work. " When there is too much stress in your life, do like a dog. . pee on it and go on. . ."

So the rest you lose is gravy! Well, Not-gravy gravy! :smile2:

That is so good! I lost 32 in the 5 weeks of preop dieting I had and it made a tremendous difference in how I felt, etc. I am very happy for you !! You may lose close to that in 3 weeks, not 5! WTG!!

While I understand what you're telling OP, you need to also understand the importance of following the pre-op diet to the letter. Restless Monkey can tell you about it. The pre-op diet is to shrink your liver. If you don't follow the diet, and your liver is too big, then you stand the chance of not getting the band! You're a self-pay, so that's alot of money to throw away. I cannot stress enough, the importance of following your doctor's orders.

Yes, some have cheated and still got their band, but is it worth the risk?!

Please explain the diet you mentioned. How long must one be on liquid diet before surgery? and why? Thank you.

Different surgeons require different preop diets (or none) depending on the patient etc. If you decide to have surgery and your surgeon wants you to do a preop diet, s/he can explain the rationale behind the one you are given.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
