Recommended Posts

I'm getting banded tomorrow and I've seen those two terms on here. Just wondering what they are.

PB'ng - Productive Burp (throwing up stuck food)

Sliming (slimy spit produces)- Occurs during a stuck episode and results in sliming prior to a PB the majority of the time. Just because you slime though doesn't mean you will PB. I will say that when you get stuck, you pray to PB bcuz you get immediate relief...at least I have. Best wishes on your surgery.

What causes getting stuck? Can you prevent it? It sounds unpleasant.

PBing I would describe as burping up what you just ate..BUT..its not really down in your stomach so its not really throwing up although a couple times I PB'd and it triggered real vomitting..from the gut. yuk.

mostly happens from swallowing a lump (getting stuck)..but also from overeating.

The slim is litterly mucus. its gross but usually only happens when your PB'ing or about too

Hi. Oh do I know about PBing. It is when the food that you just ate cannot make it down... so it comes back up. To me, it is not the same as throwing up/vomiting - the food never makes it down to your stomach. I have not thrown up since I got my band almost a year ago. PBing can be caused by taking too big of a bite, not chewing enough, not waiting between bites, or eating a food(s) that does not agree with your band. I have trouble with chicken, white Pasta, bread. When I have tried them, they just don't stay down.... so I PB. It is gross and the first time it happens, it is kinda scary. Now it is no big deal. When you get good restriction, it takes some time, and some trial and error to figure out what foods you can eat and what you need to stay away from. I also have problems if I try to eat early in the day before my band is open for business. I'm sure not everyone PB's..... but I do. Good luck to you. Becky

I got stuck today, really the first really bad one. I ate to fast, or I didn't chew well, both will cause it, I think if you have a band ,at some point this will happen, it will for sure slow you down. good luck tomorrow, remember,SLOW...chew well.lol

Eating too fast and not chewing your food good enough is the typical reason. My restriction is greater some days and on those days I have difficulty with food selections. Others are correct when they say PB'ing is not the same as vomiting from your lower stomach as it is not acidic. It's just the food you ate that hasn't passed through the opening of the band into the lower stomach. I slimed the other day for over 30 minutes w/o PB'ing on some moo shoo pork...WRONG food selection! Lost my appetitite afterwards and didn't eat dinner.< /p>

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
