For those who had only "same day" surgery.....

What time were you due into the hospital and what time were you leaving? Also, does that include a barium swallow before leaving?

I am due in at 6am for a 7am surgery. My barium swallow will be done a few days later at my local radiologist.

I had to be there by 8:00, surgery at 10:00, barium swallow about 1:30 out the door by 2:00. All went very well for me in a short amount of time. Hope this helps.

I arrived at the hospital at 6:30am for 8:30 surgery. I dont think I was taken to surgery until shortly after 9 though. My surgeon requires a 6 hour hospital stay before you can go home (starting from the time you leave recovery). It seemed excessive, but I am glad that I stayed because I ended up getting a little sick and I was pretty groggy. I was home by 6pm.

At facility at 6am for a 730am start time. Was out the door by 915, didn't feel rushed at all and was ready to be in my comfort zone at home. Didn't have to have a barium swallow

on Aug 11, I had to be in a 6am and left for home around 6pm. I didn't have to do a barium swallow then, but I had to do one a week before surgery. I do have to do another one at my first post-op appointment, next week.

I was banded 12 August. I reported to the hospital at 8am. Surgery was around 10:30. I was very groggy and sleepy afterwards when they took me to radiology make sure there were no leaks and they gave me a small medicine cup of clear thick liquid to swallow while I STOOD in front of the xray type machine. Since it was a clear picture and he could see the liquid slowly going into my stomach he said he did not have to do the barium. I was falling asleep standing but he was very sweet and showing me my new stomach etc. I was home by 4:30.... probably later than i could have gone home, if I could have kept my eyes open for more than one minute at a time.

Just a question for those that had the barium swallow the day of surgery...did you guys get a fill during surgery as well?

I had to be there at 8:30am and my surgery was scheduled for 9:30am but they were about 1 1/2 hours late. I went in for surgery at 11am out by noon and in the car on my way home at 12:30pm. I'm not sure if they are always this fast but everyone just kept saying, "I can't believe how well you're doing". Although when they brought me to the back around 9:15am they were discharging someone else and I know that surgeries don't start until 7am so, I'm guessing they usually get 'em in and get 'em out. No barium swallow required.

I was scheduled to be at the hospital at 6.30 am, surgery around 9.30 am, would have been releases around 6 Pm, but incision was bleeding, so stayed until the next morning. No fill during surgery. Esopgogram was the same day as my post-op check-up - one week later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
