I woke up yesterday morning feeling very "tight" with my band. I can hardly eat anything and drinking and taking my pills is very difficult. It has been 5 weeks since my last fill and i see the dr next week. What is going on??? Please help.

Thank you.:(

maybe you shouldn'twait until next week. if everything has been fine the past 5 weeks, and you just suddenly woke up with this great discomfort, you should call your surgeon, and see him sooner if possible.

I agree. Go see your doc tomorrow. If its really bad, page him tonite. If you can't get fluids down, you are at risk of dehydration. Also, if you take a pill, and it gets stuck and just sits there and dissolves, it can cause damage (depending on what type of pill you are taking).

I had the same problem, about three weeks after my last fill, I was suddenly feeling so tight in the morning. No particular reason or problem why but I really cant eat anything or drink until I have been up for about 2 hours. Check with your doctor but dont get super worried yet.

Hi, I had something similar happen. My doctor told me that when it is that time of the month it does get tighter, and for me, that is when it seemed to happen just a couple of days prior to them arriving and I had been fine for weeks before that. I was unable to take my tablets and was not able to eat in the mornings. So I basically would have a cuppa in the morning and because it was warm it helped relax the oesophagus, and when it was lunch I was able to eat and keep my food down and then I just would take my tablets later in the evening instead of the morning. I don't know of course if that is where you are at, but that is what happened to me so I hope that helps a little. Otherwise if it doesn't seem to ease as the morning goes and you are unable to get anything down of course see your doctor as soon as possible...

Also, I just wanted to add, my Dr. told me that as you get tighter with each fill for some of us it might be harder to eat in the morning, because you may be more swollen in the morning. But I have heard that hot tea works. But if you are still worried, you will feel much better if you call your dr!!

I also agree with trying warm beverages or broth to sip on and try to relax your band. You may also want to get some Motrin children's chewables and try them to help with swelling if you are able to get down any warm liquids. Don't overdo the chewables, just a couple may help you. And try to take them with a warm beverage or broth. It's beneficial to take the Motrin with food, but since you're problem is not being able to eat or drink, that's out of the question.

Also, avoid salt if possible (with broth this is a problem so I guess warm tea, hot chocolate or coffee is best). And if you are successful getting your band to accept liquids, then keep drinking to keep from getting dehydrated. A few people have posted that the lack of liquids causes a band to tighten - so if you are able to get it to relax - drink room temp liquids.

I notice I have a harder time with cold liquids and it's much easier to drink room temp liquids for hydration. Good luck to you and if all else fails - get to the doctor!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
