Hey ladies,

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Almost. Don't give up. I am still eating what I want including bread. My 1st fill was a bust. I go back on the 30th. I have lost about 8 pounds but I don't think that is nearly enough when it has been 6 weeks since my fill. I did not make my weight loss goal YET. I still have a couple of days-excluding tomorrow. I do believe that you can exercise too much. I only speak of this becuase I could have sworn another pcos'er was struggling along with me and I wanted your opinion.

I stopped taking my MET cause It was cause me to have a menstration all the time. Since I started taking it a month and half ago my period has been on. I couldn't take it any long and just stoppe and guess what. It stopped too.

Loveslady you are doing great! 8 lbs is great for 6 weeks that is what they expect from us 1-2 lbs a week. Unless you will say its been through sheer willpower which you probably will say!

I'm a PCO'ser but I didn't understand the question. I take the Met though I have been forgetful about it the last few weeks; I menstruate regardless but the MET totally has changed my metabolism so it just shows you how much PCO's messes it up. On the other hand as we loose weight our metabolism becomes more normal. When I first went on met about 20 years ago the weight just started flying off and I was doing nothing - this ended in about 6 months my body adjusted BUT on a few occassions I went off the met and I gained a good 20 lbs! both times. So I 'm staying on it (though I have as I said not been taking it for about a week or not taking it daily but that is still not what i meant by go off- it that was for months).

There is a whole PCO support area if you scroll to the support areas. Polycystic Ovary Syhdrome too complicated to go into here but it is as Dr Atkins put it (who I saw when he was alive) one of the most severe metabolic disorders)... there are a ton of other symptoms that wouldn't be the one that leads u to suspect pcos but it results in sever insulin resistance, no mentsruation for some; inability to get pregnant; among other symptoms. Met is short for Metformin which is mainly a diabetes drug but it was found to improve PCOS - so it is very interesting the connections.

I can't believe how much you have lost! That is awesome. You need to post some before and afters! Good luck with fill #3. Mine is Dec. 1, but I think I am going to get just a little bit, the second fill is working pretty well still.

I have some pictures on my page, in my album. Just click on my picture and go to my album. My third fill went fine. She only gave me .6 ccs. That's puts me a total of 6.1. It's going fine so far. How is everyone else? Happy Thanksgiving!

I've only had one episode that I can recall and it was at the beginning before any fills. I have a 10 cc band. I usually have a Protein Shake for Breakfast and a small lunch of around 300 calories and 300 calorie dinner. I mean it varies what I eat. I can eat nearly anything just way smaller portions and I try to stick to lean meats and fruits and veggies. Don't eat much bread, pastas, or rice. I exercise 5 days a week, 30 - 60 minutes a day. Happy Thanksgiving!

happy thanksgiving to you too! I have a 10 cc band too (been having issues since filled to 4.7 and now 5.2). Most my incidents do surround Protein though the last really bad one did involve a toasted low carb wrap with meatballs in it. But its been fish, chicken, turkey everything. I am going to resort to drinking soon (jk). But say today and tomorrow where I don't want to be sick in front of people I am def having a glass of wine. After exercise I am looser. walk every day 2 miles; ride (horse) thats the toughest workout everything hurts 2 times a week (training not recreational); and i was going to the gym but broke my toe this past week w/ said horse so by next week I should be ok but walking is a challenge right now.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while. I just had my first fill of 4 cc in a 10 cc realize band today. Doing protien shakes today. I had to wait for fill because I had a trip to disney in florida and the doc wanted to wait till after. I had my surgery sept 22 so I'm kind of behind all of you. I have lost 42 lbs since first visit to doc in Febuary. My little chihuahua died while I was on vacation, she was 8 years old and has been sick a long time but I am still heartbroken. My husband and I wanted another one right away, missing her too much!!! We found one in Virgina and are driving down to get her Friday and coming home Saturday. I start soft food Friday and solid Saturday so I'm kind of worried how this is going to go being away from home and all. Oh well, life happens and we have to adjust to many new situations I guess. Just nervous. Happy Thanksgiving, I'll be eating mine pureed, lol Donna

actually donna, I think that you are doing great. i too have lost around 40 lbs and i think that is good. I'm ready for more though.

My dog has congenital heart failure but he's fighting it. I don't think I could get another dog so soon. Just thinking about him dying makes me sad. You have my empathy and I hope you enjoy your little one soon. Have a safe trip.

My question was does MET make you have AF for long periods of time? It didn't always but now it just keeps going and going and going.

Hi everyone....and Happy Turkey Day! I am glad to see someone else with a 10cc band. I just found out this week that I have a 10 cc band. I got a 2cc fill last month and a 1 cc fill this week. I only lost 1 pound during the month between fills. They said sinc emy band is small, my fills will be small. I am feeling liek I stay full longer with the 3ccs I have now but wow, when I am hungry--I am HUNGRY!

I have another appointment in ealry Decemebr abnd I am going to schedlue another fill right away...won't wait a month this time.

I am happy with the 22+ pounds I have lost and since I told NO ONE that I had the surgery. No one has even noticed that I have lost any weight at all!

I am so jealous. I won't be to my goal when I go to the doc monday. I don't have a christmas goal but my new years goal is 230-235. Im shooting for 235 since I didn't make previous goal so I had to push things back some. I have to get on the ball. I basically have to learn to re-eat. I have been having the problems of having to take smaller bites. I am acutally able to eat normally and eat bread-heck eat everything. i am ready to have the restrictions or suffer the consequences. I need to exercise more. I've been doing 3 days a week. I really need to make it more...

I hope u surpass your goal! That would be great. I am just wanting 230.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
