Just wondering how much people weigh when they start to shop at non plus size stores. There seems to be so much variation in sizes. I tried on jeans from old navy in a 14 that fit, but other stores seem to run a lot smaller.

What are your favorite stores? If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me some of your favorite stores, your weight, and what sizes you wear? Thanks.

My problem is, i have no buut or legs, as my daughter says..they are smaller..if i buy pants to fit waiste, they hang in butt and legs, if i get them to fit legs like i want, there is no way they come close to meeting at front, belly is my biggest parts.. I hope to get it in the right proportions soon..i can finally put on a pair of lane bryants stretch button and zip jeans size 20 and the legs are not tooo big..i havnt worn jeans since high school and i graduated in 1968..so that felt good..my 31 year old daughter said..oh mom you look so cute in jeans..i hope by winter to be able to wear a 14 or 16

I have the same problem. I find that jeans with a little bit of stretch in the fabric fit the best, and I usually have to wear a belt to prevent them from sagging in the back. I'm sure your new pants are very cute!

The pounds really won't help you much. I'm 5'10" and 214 pounds looks a lot different on me than it would on somebody 5'2". And then there's the whole distribution issue....one person who weight 175 could carry all their weight in their hips (pear shaped) and another one could have the weight more evenly distributed.

I am 5' 8" and weigh 210. I am in a comfortable 16. My friend weighs slightly less, but is 5' 3" and wears an 18. It does depend on height, and body shape like Cathy mentioned.

Well I am 5'4" and 195 and wear a 14 comfortably, and I am pretty hourglass shape, so top and bottom heavy. My mother is straight up and down and she's 5'11" and 200 and wears an 18/20 so...

Our sizes are smaller here (although not our population any more!) and at five foot ten, I had to get under 180 to be able to walk into any mid range store.

Some high end fashion I still probably couldnt wear at 150lb. I'm about Australian 12 (us 8) and can run into a 14 in smaller sizes.

Traditionally, our stores have carried 8 to 14 or 16 (US 4-14) so anything above that I tend to consider "plus sized" although many places now go up to an 18.

It's so interesting we're all so different. Although I'm not fitting into everything I try at regular size stores, since hitting 220 (which was 50lbs down) I've been able to shop a ton in regular sized stores. XL teeshirts and size 14 jeans/pants from anywhere from Jcrew (though their jeans fit, but not comfortably yet) to American Eagle, the Gap, etc. Old Navy is so inconsistent - 12s in some styles, in others I couldn't even do up the 14. The only exception to this rule right now is more structured dresses - with my boobs I'm still an 18 or so. Oh for context's sake, I'm 5'8.

I am 5'2 -161 lbs. I am wearing Medium tops, but my hips and belly are still pretty big so I'm in 14's and a few 12's in pants. I really am starting to feel uneven, so I hope the weight starts coming off my belly a bit more soon. Ugh!

When I weigh around 180 I can fit in a size 12 in stores like Aeropsatle and AE. I am almost 5'3" and have an hourglass shape (and a giant belly!)

I'm 5'7", weigh about 195 and just bought a pair of 15-16, 34" inseam Wrangler jeans. I like the Wrangler Jet style- they have an elastic reinforced waist that looks like a regular waistband and they're a little bigger in the waist than some of the other styles. I bought them at Boot Barn. I also buy western shirts there- an XL usually fits pretty well unless the shirts are a brand that runs smaller in the chest.

I used to be an hourglass until I had children and the sand all settled around my waist.

I'm 5'4 and weigh 206 lbs. on top I wear between a Ladies XL and a womens 1X depending on the shirt and on the bottom i'm a Size 20. That shows you how disproportioned I am!!!! Yet after high school when I weighed 206 I was a size 18/20 on top and bottom. Weight loss works in mysterious ways!!!

Im 5'6" and 221 lbs. Im bigger up top than the bottom. not much in the way of butt or hips. I wear 14 in jeans but still a 1x or 2x in tops to be comfortable. The 2x's look too big but I think the drape look hides my inner tube roll. LOL. 1x top and 14 bottom are about right on me with my body type now. I would love to wear a 10 in jeans and L in tops. Maybe someday.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
