I was banded on 2/25/09.

I did real well for the first month and lost about 20 pounds.

However, I have fallen back into all my old habits and gained back almost all of it! I feel like a complete failure!

I know I need to jump back on it QUICK but feel like I dont know where to start or even how to do it! HELLLP! :tongue2:

Hi Gretchen. I would definitely go back to your doctor to get a fill. It doesn't sound like you should have been able to gain weight back if your food is restricted. Also have you started walking?

Don't lose confidence!!!

I have been, and I am restricted. I just have found ways to eat around the band I guess u could say ... eating ice cream and things that go down real easy. So embarrassing. Just dont know what to do ... go back on the liquid and start all over from there?

I totally understand that sense of frustration and failure. It is so familiar to all of us in our lives of the obesity battle. I have only lost 25 pounds myself and my surgery was in sept 08. I too have good restriction have found ways to eat around the band. I have finally in my gut realized this is a tool only and I must take full responsibility for everything I put in my mouth!!! Believe me it is hard. I happen to be vactioning in Italy and the ice cream is the greatest.

Do not let yourself succumb to the failure feeling. It has so much to do with the way we have been mistreated for our weight and we in turn mistreated ourselves even more. Good luck on your journey you are not alone!!!!!

You could start by going back on the low carb diet to jump start yourself. Also, write down everything you eat. That helps me. I still eat ice cream, but a limited amount. If you have a mis-step, just begin again, now. And YES, it isn't easy at all.

Might you be too restricted? Per the chart in my doc's office that's a sign of "too tight"...unable to eat healthy so you turn to sliders and gain weight. Is that you?

If not, then it's head hunger and the band can't help...maybe a session or two with your doc's recommended therapist would help.

Then...therapy. A behavioral therapist helped me immensely. We overeat for MANY reasons. We aren't one supersize fits all....but a therapist can help you recognize what's causing your behavior and help you figure out how to stop it. Good luck! :tongue2:

If your doc can't recommend one, or you don't like the one your doc recommends, try one who specializes in "eating disorders". We always think of anorexia/bulimia when we hear that, but overeating to the point where we need surgery to correct it is also an eating disorder. I think you're smart to realize it and I hope you get help quick! :(

Start eating Protein first every meal. It will cut your cravings for sugar quite a bit. Then go to a therapist for more help with head hunger.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
