I can't figure out what some of the things I feel mean. Yesterday, I tried to eat a chicken breast. About half way through, I get a horrible tight feeling in the middle of my chest, just below the bra line. Is that what full feels like? Or am I stuck? I've never had a PB or thrown up. This tight feeling makes me either stand up or lay flat till it goes away. I'm sure if I eat another bite at this point, there would be consequences.

I just don't know how to interpret the feeling. It seems to be only certain foods that cause it - Buns (hamburger or hot dog), chicken and ham so far. Maybe I'm eating too fast? I just don't know what to do about it.

I hope someone can interpret for me.

Thank you! (yes, I have the feeling right now from a hamburger)

Did you get an answer to your question? I too have had those same things happen. I don't think that you are full. I believe that you aren't chewing slow enough, which I fight every day! I tried Chinese at home on Saturday (chicken and green Beans with rice) but couldn't eat it, in fact had to throw it up some of it because it felt, to me, that part it that got stuck. Very unpleasant feeling.

What you are describing sounds like stuck. You already guessed it, you need to take smaller bites and chew longer.

Also, I couldn't eat bread for the first year at all. For some strange reason I can now, but never before. You might want to considering cutting bread down or out of your diet for the time being.

Full should just feel mild pressure, not painful and of course you should feel satisfied.

Thank you for the response. I'm still trying to learn how to work with this thing inside me. I haven't eaten much bread at all, but really wanted a hamburger for some reason. Maybe I won't have that craving again for a while since I will remember how it felt. It seems to pop up on one bite. I'll be fine right up till it hurts. It's not a slow progression with warning signs.

Another day, another lesson learned.

Since I get stuck frequently I just wanted to put in my two cents here. If you are stuck, you will know it.

When I get that feeling it's my key to slow it down. That's when I put the chicken breast down and sit there for about 5 minutes. Then I pick up my fork again and resume eating.

So what does stuck feel like? Sorry to sound stupid, but I'm learning here....

Thanks for the replies!

The key: CHEW, CHEW,CHEW AND STILL MORE CHEWING!

I get stuck on a regular basis... 45 years of bad habits are hard to break. I have to say that it is less and less that I get stuck. I think when you are hungry and you take the first bite of food, that is the worse.... It basically spoils the entire meal, if you get stuck in the first 2 bites!

Take care and it will work itself out.

lbndoc, I'm sorry I didn't explain to you.....when you are stuck you feel it right around your chest area. It's like a rock stuck smack dab in the middle of your chest. It will happen almost immediately after swallowing the food. It is an extremely uncomfortable feeling that is unmistakable.

I have a question. (Please forgive my ignorance.) Why is the stuck feeling felt in the chest? I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but what are the dangers of PBing often?

As someone said earlier, it's hard to change a lifetime of bad eating habits. I assure you that PBing is definitely motivation. However, I continue to PB at least three times per week. I know that I have the right amount of restriction because when I conciously chew more and take breaks between bites, I don't have any episodes.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.

Delivered-

The band is placed right under the breast area so when you are stuck it is in the chest. I have several stuck episodes weekly as well. Today, everything I've tried to eat has gotten stuck and has come back up. I'll tell you though, food is totally unimportant to me now. It's a hell of a way to loose weight isn't it.

Thanks for all t his info -- I STILL get stuck on a regular basis and it is always when I am really hungry or have waited too long to eat.

I have had the 'stuck' problem all day...

Can I ask? How long does it usually take for this feeling to go away? Does the food eventually dissolve if you don't throw it up? I'm wondering how much of my discomfort is from the actually throwing up I did this morning, and then again tonight.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
