Anyone lose any rings?

Recommended Posts

Its a slow day here, am I was sitting here thinking. I was 225 when I got married 28 years ago. I use to travel a lot and when I got down to 195, I'm thinking this was 1985 or so, I was in Missouri and I noticed my wedding ring was missing and I suspected it came off while I slept. (Ladies, this is the truth) I was lucky and did go back to the hotel room and was able to find it in the bed. I'm getting close to getting back to that weight and I see my ring is very loose. I'll have to look into one of those ring guards. Just thought I would mention it in case it saves someone from losing a more expensive piece of jewelry.

I just told my hubby the other day that i need to get a ring guard because my ring is so lose i'm afraid it's going to fall off and i won't notice! It's insured, but it still wouldn't be the same having to replace it! I'm not ready to have it sized down....i had it sized to be able to wear it, and i don't want to do anything to it until i KNOW it won't have to be sized again!

I had to get a new wedding ring because mine was so big. Being a guy my ring is cheap so ts nothing to just buy a new ring as my body keeps shrinking.

I've had my wedding and engagement rings resized twice and they're too big again - not wearing them at the moment.

I actually dont wear them that often anyway, as my tastes have changed a LOT since I got married 20 years ago and I tend to wear very different style of jewellery now, not really big on traditional feminine pretty jewellery and much more likely to go for something much more modern/funkier. So at the moment I've got a sterling silver dome ring on my wedding finger.

DH isnt fussed, he'd rather I do that than shell out AGAIN for resizing, and I think I'll wait and remodel the rings entirely. They're yellow gold which I no longer wear at all.

I have ring guards on my wedding ring and had them for a couple of months now. I have also noticed that my watch slings all around my wrists - need a link or 2 taken out before I lose it.

Even though I have only lost twenty pounds, I have lost inches so my rings are sort of rolling around on my fingers. Will wait until I (hopefully) reach my goal to get them sized. I had already had them redone for my 20th anniversary and love them so I will have them sized. Can't wait till that day comes. Good point BillOh. Maybe it will help someone remember to get a guard or sizing.

This is such a great problem to have! My wedding ring finger has shrunk and so has my wrist apparently:)

I was at a restaurant with my kids the day before yesterday and as i was wiping my hands I felt a thud on the floor. I has no idea what it was but I checked my finger and my ring was missing. I looked down and there between my feet was my ring. I never felt it come off.

It it had not been for the thud and the fact that it was a moment that my kids were being very quiet I would have lost my ring. I need to get a ring guard...and soon!

My rings are all too big and lost my blue diamond pinkie ring a few weeks ago while out. I really need to get my rings resized.

This -->Tiffany & Co. | Item | Frank Gehry® Torque hoop earrings in sterling silver. | United States

is my gift to myself for getting, and staying under 200.

This--->Tiffany & Co. | Item | Frank Gehry® Torque ring in 18k black gold, narrow. | United States

is my gift when I get to 150.

I chose the earrings now because I don't want to get the ring sized after losing another 50 lbs!!

My engagement ring is super loose and I will have to get a ring guard as well.

I just ordered the earrings 10 minutes ago:smile2:

I need to have mine sized too because they are flopping all over my finger, I would be sick if I lost my diamond Hubby surprised my last year with a 1 1/2 ct. I still have 35-40lbs to go and then I will size them.

At least now you have thought of it before then. While my ring is an ultra cheap band, its the one I put on when I got married 28 years ago, you can't replace that.

Jewelry is my gift to myself, as well. My engagement ring has been sized up and down so many times that the band is real thin. Plus, the stone sits high and it gets caught on just about everything. When I break into wonderland (24 lbs to go, woo-hoo) I get a trinity ring. I'm looking at one that is amethyst, which is my hubs birthstone.

I like the jewelry you've chosen.

I went to a jewelry store and purchased gold sizers that were quickly (within 3-4 minutes) placed within my rings. They can easily be tightened by me as I continue to lose weight and work wonderfully at keeping my rings on my finger. They are not noticeable by anyone else and I am in no hurry to have my rings sized even though I am close to goal, I am not sure I am quite there so why hurry? I am not worried about losing my rings anymore and I paid about $20 a ring to keep them on my finger, a great investment.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
