Shrinking Violets Part 4

Bon Journo Bellas~

Stitches out today! Looking forward to this. I accidently pulled 2 stitches compelety out, and dislodged a third, which resulted in some bleeding when I pulled my eye, may need a butterfly on that end. Worried about a scar, but nothing I could do on Sunday. Oh well.

We are going camping in a couple of weeks w/ Jenny and Annette (Jenny's new gf...although they knew each other since last fall, Annette is on Susanne's softball team). Anywho...Annnette is friends w/ that rouge lesbian team, Hard Liquors...and I guess we are going camping w/ them!:smile2: right now, these women scare me...but I guess once I get to know them they wont seem so bad. HAHA...

Then we are going to see Funny People @ noon w/ Stef and Bob. Looking forward to that too! Then the couch guys will be here at 4 to fix our broken recliners!

I bought this receipe book called Hungry Girl 200 under 200. There are 200 receipes under 200 calories. Well, tomorrow I am meeting some girls from work for a coffee thingy and am going to make this "dish" called FUNKY MONKEY SQUARES. They are not Cookies, not brownies...squares. But each one is 73 calories. If they are good, I'll post the receipe. This book is great, it has all meals, deserts, and everything in between. The squares are made w/ splenda, 25 cal. cocoa mix., whole wheat flour...

That is all on this end of the country! Love you girls!

xoxooxxoxo

Ciao Bellas

Morning.

I took a Benadryl last night and went to bed about 9pm. Woke up around 4:30am and went potty, got back in bed and slept till 8:30. That was what I needed. Woke up to a storm this morning, it's cloudy right now but supposed to clear up. Not sure if I'll get in any pool time. We'll see.

Jane, I know you had storms this morning but there are more on the way.

I sliced up some zuccini bread and banana bread. Yummy. I had a slice of each and now it's sitting in my chest. It was just the little mini loaves. Still yummy though.

Have a great day.

Hi ladies~I slept in this morning too. TOM is kickin' my rear end this time.

Kat-Last time I got on the scales I was back up to 222 so I am going to try starting today to lose my -5 this month. Since I am on tom I am NOT going to get on the scales. I wish I could undo what I have done to myself but I can't so I will just have to start again. Congrats on the -2.5. Still a negative...but c'mon, lets do this...(consider yourself kicked in the pants). Jenns new found fire is contagious :)

Jenn-thank you :smile2:

We had a good time in LA. Doubled our money and came home.

Have a great day everyone.

I just went grocery shopping, when i get my support check, I usually go and buy enough of the basics that wont go bad for the month, then just get milk, lettuce and chicken when needed. OMG I spent $80 at the regular store because I stocked up but since I split my shopping, I know Walmart Prices, so stuff I saw that was cheaper that was on the Walmart list, I got.

I am still on Clear Liquids, but I'm going to make some ham and cheese Soup for the mushie stage tomorrow, but I'm going to use the canned chicken instead of ham because of the salt, and it is higher in Protein. I was adding chicken to cream of cheese soup at one point and it was pretty good, so i'm sure it shoud work.

It is 86, sunny and humid so i'm going to sip my broth and head out to the pool

Wah. I fell off the sugar wagon yesterday and am paying the price with bloat and lethargy today. Grrrr. SOME DAY I WILL LEARN!!

Back to Day 1.

Jenn - I'm rooting for you kid.

My sister is having a hysterectomy today -- it was found that she has uterine cancer but she made me promise not to worry...so I'm not (yet). Just say a little prayer if you would.

Al-anon is awesome. I'm really enjoying my meetings.

Evan's doing really well. Now, if he would just find a job!

Thanks for the west coast update Pamela

Thanks for the midwest update Suzanne

Thanks for the northeast update Jenn

Now for the southcentral update... LOL

Not much going on here. We missed our first counseling session with the marriage counselor last night because Juan forgot about it.... WHA?? One of our biggest fights used to be about me nagging him and reminding him about stuff ALL THE TIME. I don't do that anymore and so far he's been good about keeping up with stuff. Well yesterday morning I reminded him that we had an appt at 6:30 pm at church. He said he would be home at 6 then. I am sitting at home waiting and waiting and finally at 6:25 I called him to ask him where he was at and he told me he was still working... I got so upset! I just felt all those old feelings rushing back in of him purposely not wanting to go through with things... Well the good thing is that he rushed home, apologized profusely and kicked himself in the ass for forgetting, LOL. He assured me that it wasn't like before and he told me that I shouldn't have those bad feelings because it's nothing like before. That made me feel better... I'm just emotional because i'm starting at the end of the week...

Terry - thanks for the recomendation on the photographer. Your friend takes awesome pictures! I'm gonna show his site to Juan to see what he says...

Pamela - HG has a website with awesome recipes. I've never made a single one though, LOL. But they all look good and healthy! Let me know how those bars turn out.

Judy - pasties sound so good. I like all those type of savory pastry pockets. Jamaicans have a beef patty that is spicy ground beef inside a pasty pocket. YUM, love those.

I didn't even bother weighing myself this past week. I've got actual excersise time planned this week though. That's a first, LOL!

I gotta get my Water now. I've been doing so good with at least that!

Back from pretzel & potato chip land -- oh my! Those factory stores really should be outlawed... & the fact that you can get all sorts of fun flavors & deals that they don't have in the regular stores... again I say... oh my! (can you say sweet potato chips? ?)

Laura... I just got "The Help" yesterday from the library... I'm planning on reading it this weekend when I'll be @ Solomon's Island on the eastern shore of MD from Fri - Sun for ds's soccer tournament... we're staying at a marina w/a nice pool and are going early on Friday to relax & enjoy (just me, ds & my mom), w/the first game on Sat morning.

Off to pom practice & soccer training... now newly rescheduled to be at the exact same start & end time on the complete opposite (North & South) sides of the town! Of course!

Oh, one more funny thing... we ate lunch in this little PA town at a place called the "Famous Hot Weiner"! Had the kids laughing all day... It was kinda funny...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
