I am in the pre-op process and have a phobia about vomiting. I hate to vomit! Does everyone vomit after surgery, or do some get through without vomiting at all? I'd rather deal with pain all day long than throw up one single time!

Everyone one may not vomit, but everyone has at least one experience of food getting stuck. I have not come across anyone on here that has not thrown up. Not to scare you but it does happen.

yes, when you pb or slime after having lapband it is not the same as throwing up. Its more like saliva with your foods compressed in it, because the food doenst actually hit your stomach yet.

i was banded april 20th, i have one eposide of pbing and that was because i ate to fast.

it is very different than vomiting, so i would not worry.

I would rather have a root canal than vomit. PBing is not nearly as unpleasant. It is basically just your food coming back up, with a little extra saliva mixed in. I would rather not do it, but it isn't bad.

I was banded in September 08. I have not vomited or PB'ed but I have been stuck twice and slimed. The stuck food eventually worked it's way through the band. Lots of pain, though. Make sure your doctor gives you anti nausea pills to have on hand in case you get the flu or some other stomach ailment.

Cathy S I'm like you...I say my tract is ONE WAY ONLY. I've PB'd more than I wanted (chew well small bites and it won't happen) but it isn't like the few times I actually vomited...no bile, no sore throat, no vile taste in mouth.

The weight loss is worth it.

Everyone is different in how they come out from under. I myself, have never gotten sick (knock on wood).

I do not vomit or pb, I do not keep my band so tight that I have any problems. I dunno that I have ever really gotten anything stuck. sometimes if i eat too fast I can feel it going down very slowly, but it never stays for more than 5 minutes. LOVE MY BAND!!! I think bc I don't over tighten my band is why I have such an easy time of it. I try to eat slowly, small quantities and chew chew chew!

good luck!!

I just wanted to add that I agree with the posters above who said it isn't the same as vomiting. I am just like you- I would rather have the runs all day than throw up once. TMI I know!

I probably PB about 2 times a month and it is mainly due to foods I used to be able to eat suddenly I can't eat anymore (byebye Pasta of any kind). It is just the food and some saliva (slime) without the nausea or stomach acids. You know when it is about to happen, but it isn't the same as being nauseous and vomiting. Does that help?

Anyway, I will definitely deal with it as I have lost almost 120 pounds in 8 months and have an exciting new life now. :)

Good Luck with your band.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
