Pregnant with TWINS!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

My twins are fraternal. They are dizygotic. For those of you who don't know that means they have their own sac, own placenta and own umbilical cord. they are just sisters who happen to share the same oven!

Yes I am a first time mother, and I didn't go into this saying wow, I just want twins. Especially with my husband deployed for 6 months and may not get back in time for the birth... but its not like I could put one back at this point. I didn't take fertility drugs either... I understand that it is going to be a lot of work - having two - but really, being anything but happy and excited would just be really depressing at this point! Just looking at the odds alone really make me smile. Its a journey.

I didn't mean to sound like I was poopooing on your parade, because let's face it.. 1,2, or even 3 you're just through the roof because you're having babies

It just made me think of people I hear around here (not moms yet) hoping to have twins, and I just think..whew, if you only knew how much work just 1 is, you wouldn't hope for it hehe.

1 is alot of work. It will probably seem like a ton of work to me since i've already had 1 daughter. But I've always heard it's better to have twins first because you don't know any difference! If she has any more later it will seem like a breeze!

I was totally scared and overwhelmed at first and it took a while for it to all sink in. Now when people say "better you than me" I always say "i think so!" I now feel so blessed and amazed that God trusts me with his 2 little girls!

That's true, I imagine after having 2 at once, if you have any more single after that it'll make that a breeze!

Hi, newbie here

I am 25 weeks pregnant with twin boys. I did the surgery in May '06. I went from 252 lbs to 170, and then gained back to 195 when my Dr. had to unfill me because I was too tight.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant with twins I had my Dr. empty the band.

I am having a harder pregnancy this time around, Im not sure if it's due to age(I'm 36), twins or the lapband.

Peggy

I bet it's the twins and your age. I'm 34 and it seems like this pregnancy is harder! But i don't feel like it's because of the band at all.

I was thinking it might be the band because I have cramping in the port area

Hi Ladies,

congrats on the twins!! I have had two sets of twins pre-band and it can be so different from a singleton pregnancy. Their is a great book with really practical advice in it. I read with my first set and re-read it with my second set. It is called "When Your Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads" by Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein. It is sort of the What to Expect book for multiples. Both of my sets happened unplanned when I lost a significant amount of weight. I have one set of fraternal boys, one set identical boys. I am getting an implant for birth control that last five years because I don't need a third set!

If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message.

I have cramping in my port area also. I've heard alot of people with the band say that though. Mine is sensitive to the touch on sometimes but not always.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
