port, pain, swelling - gas?

Recommended Posts

Banded May 26. I know where my port is and there is some swelling in that area - about 2" above my belly button, and maybe an inch or two to the right. I have the larger incision there and then a smaller one right below and to the right. And there is a red circle mark kind of between the two. The entire area is still swollen. I kind of expected this so I'm not too concerned.

But sometimes, when I'm standing up and take a deep breath, I'll get a really sharp pain just to the right of the port, kind of in the area where your appendix would be. It seems to be worst after I eat.

Is this just gas?

Mine is exactly the same but on the left side and I had surgery on the same day as you and im still super tender in the port area, coughing, sneezing, deep breaths are still very painful. I guess it could be gas also. Hope it goes away soon.

Yes, mine too on the left side. Two weeks out though and it is feeling alot alot better in terms of the sharp pain, so I would just give yourself some time. Seems like alot of people start to feel much better at the 2 week mark. Today though I had lots of gas...could be becaue I started a job and now just have the 30 min to eat, so I prob ate too fast. (TMI warning)...When I was finally able to take my 15 minute break, I took a walk by myself and had the most amazing loooong farts. I felt so much better after that. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
