I am getting mine done at 7 a.m. and have to be there at 5 a.m. The kicker is that I am about 2 hours away from the hospital so I will have to leave at 3 a.m.,,,I am in for a long day,,,,,right now I am just trying to get down this nasty magnesium citrate drink thing they make you drink the day before surgery.

Good luck all! I'm also having my banding June 1, but not until early afternoon, so I'm hoping I'll still be able to come home tomorrow evening. Sorry about you having to have the Mag Citrate, QuincyGirl . . hope it's all out of your system by the time you get on the road!! Luckily I don't have to do that!

Melliecat,

Here I am at home already! My surgery was at about 2pm and I was home by 5:15pm! It was a lot easier than I anticipated . . . some of the war stories by previous banders scared me. I refused the morphine in the hospital and took the liquid Lortab instead and I'm glad I did. I'm sore, of course, and have a litte gas, but so far, so good! I haven't been exactly hungry but my stomach was growling since I hadn't had anything by mouth since 10pm last night, so I had some cream of chicken Soup and drank high Protein Isopure. All-in-all, not a bad experience (so far)! Hope yours goes as well!

Had surgery about 11:30 on Monday, had an unexpected decision by anesthesia because of sleep apnea to make it an overnight stay, which in the long run was good. I rested well and was able to get meds for nausea on the first day and for my ride home (85 mile trip). Only have taken a few doses of the oxycodone for pain. None today and drove myself to Wal-Mart and now getting ready to do some work on the computer. Only issue was first day while still at the hospital with my first Jello. It kind of wanted to come back up but didn't just did the dry heave once and then it made its way down. Not having problems with liquids. Had absolutely no expansion gas pain (dr. has method of suctioning as much as he can back out to allieve this pain). So all is good. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst, maybe a 2. Feels more like you've worked out with a trainer who didn't have a clue you're in bad shape and made you do a gazillion crunches. I also was given a binder to wrap around my middle section which helped with driving.

But thumbs up from me so far. No hunger but I've been pretty good about doing an ounce of something every ten minutes. Throat is sore from intubation. So good luck to all of our June Banders

Trisha,

Did the hospital give you the binder or did you get it from someone else? It sounds like it would be helpful. Glad to hear your doing so well!! I'm scheduled for 9AM tomorrow...... I hope I can sleep tonight.

The hospital gave it to me but I think you can buy them at a pharmacy or medical supply. They don't usually get banders staying overnight. so don't know if I was supposed to get it or not but it did help for the ride home because it was 85 miles and I used it today when I drove to Walmart.< /p>

So far things are going good. Some gurgling every once in a while with liquids but they're going down without any problems and pain really has been minimal. Soreness yes, but not severe pain but also didn't get the expansion gas pain either which sometimes I hear can be not fun but just take whatever drugs you get until it passes.

Good luck tomorrow. Will look for you posting in a few days to let us know how you did.

Trisha,

Thanks, I may look into it when I get there in the AM. I have to travel around 75 miles.

This website has been great throughout preop, and I'm looking forward to moving into the postop phase!

NH-Pam, i know you're headed to the hospital about now. So good luck and hope to see you online in a few days letting us know you made it okay and are having a smooth recovery. I also use the binder band at night time helps a little with sleeping on my side.

Pam, I'm pretty sure you won't be checking in later. if so, you're a better person than I. It took me a couple of days before I felt like even looking at the computer. But good luck and hang in there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
