HI all

I was banded on the 19th of May. I have had 7 incisions due to some previous abdo surgery and seem to be in a fair amount of pain.

But, i keep getting this pain, its almost like hunger pain?!?! Does anyone have anything similiar?

Amy

Hey! Sorry I have no advice as I didn't feel any abdo pain (just more uncomfortable) - saying that I did have a LOT of shoulder/neck pain which lasted a good 4 days...so I would expect your pains to start settling down around the 4day mark too...if not, I would ask the doc. Not surea about the "hunger pain" as I didn't even feel like food for a good week!!

ps. I see u'r a fellow perthite...and close to my age! We should keep in touch:)

My gas pains were in my stomach and bowels post-op, not my shoulder. I used GasX and it helped quite a bit. My first hunger started on about my fourth day out. Good luck.

I was banded on the 11 and had terrible left shoulder pain. I would also get pain in the center of my chest (between my breasts) and feel like i needed to burp but couldn't. It was excrutiating, but it was always kind of there. Not sure if it was gas or hunger. It did go away after about 4-5 days. I made sure I walked 3x a day and ate VERY SLOWLY when I felt hungry. It should go away very soon otherwise talk to your dr. Congrats!!!!

YES!!!! I felt this since day one! I was told that it was more than likely gas pains, but damn if I do not eat something in that moment I feel like Im about to pass out!!! Its been getting better, although I get the hiccups alot and that hurts like hell!! I've always been that way, like a hiccup or two every once in a while. Last night though the gas hurt so bad I was dreaming about the pain and woke up! It was like a big bubble right under my rib cage on the left side. I was crying when I woke up.

Yes, for me it got a little bit better every day and disappeared after 4-5 days i think. My port incision is still quite sore though, but that's a whole 'notha story

Hey Amy I was done on the 12th of May and although I'm 3 weeks out I still get some pain. Is yours like severe pain? Cuz if it is maybe you should consider calling your surgeon, I tried ringing my nurse today but he must be busy. Also apparently some pain up to a month out is expected. If you need anyone to talk to or any more info feel free to message me =)

I felt pretty hungry by day 4...was SO excited to have some mushy food that day. My hunger seems to vary day by day...some days I get hungry an hour after I eat, some days I'm not that hungry at all. I don't have a fill yet, though...I two weeks out from surgery. I had gas pains under my rib cage and up in my left shoulder for several days after surgery. OUCH is all I have to say about that!

I also noticed one of my body's cues to me now that I'm getting on the full side is my left shoulder will hurt a little bit like that gas pain...then I know to stop so I won't get over full.

I was banded on 5/12. The only reason I knew I had to eat last night was the low blood sugar shakes. I see my doctor on Wed and I am going to ask why I don't feel hungry at all and I can only eat maybe a 1/4 of a cup or less of food.< /p>

My surgeon told me that it would take 2-3 months for my body to feel "normal" The muscles have been outraged by being cut and they will give you hitches for weeks.

I didn't have trouble with gas but the upper chest and shoulders hurt for some time because the surgeory requires your abdomen being inflated.

I have trouble with gas now, it's how my body has chosen to react to my eating too fast or too big. I think I may be reaching my mazimum fill point since I can feel even the smallest abount. Last fill was .2cc's and I am still getting used to it 3 weeks later.

So just keep on truckin' along. It all takes time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
