Stuck at 260!

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I've really love this forum and all of the information is provides.

I was banded about 1.5 years ago and went from 298 to being stuck around 260 for the last 9 months or so. Admittedly I did not exercise as I should and found certain foods much easier to eat (e.g. Ice cream) than others that caused PBs (e.g. chicken).

Having said that over the last few weeks I've exercised regularly (cardio 4-5x per week @30mins at target HR) and have eliminated anything not good for me (ice cream, sweets, etc). My caloric intake has been around 1,400 - 1,500. In three weeks I have only lost 1.5 pounds and am very distressed.

I'm hoping others have had a similar issue and can give me some guidance on how to break through this. I feel like the band has given me all it can and the rest is up to me. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be cannot seem to break through into the 250s.

Thank you!

We are singing the same tune. I'm almost a year from bandaversary, stuck at 260 for 6 months. I am not keeping my commitment to low fat, low sugar and plenty of exercise.

It will come off, you're doing what you should - keep it up. Get a fill if you need it.

I'm going in 2 weeks for a fill, and a jumpstart, back to the healthy side of life.

You did not mention anything about getting fills. THis is a powerful tool to help you lose weight. Having a fill gave me the kick over the 250 point. It gave me more restriction so I was forced to eat less and I had to make decisions on the amount of food that I ate and what I ate. Don't weigh yourself for awhile. That also helped me. The emphasis is on getting stronger through exercise and focusing on what you are putting in your mouth. Make the band work for you. Good luck to you! If I can do it, you can too.

Have had 2 small fills, 256 today. I can feel myself slipping a bit, so another fill in 2 weeks. Sure hope I can maintain the loss, but it is getting harder to resist the easy food.< /p>

nebber Im sorry you are going through this. I went through it too for awhile.

I do not advise a fill however. It sounds like you are too tight already and resorted to the soft food syndrome. It is hell to get out of and getting tighter will only exacerbate the situation. Our brains are smarter than we think! It will find ways to eat foods that we know won't "hurt" us.

My doctor stressed it shouldn't hurt to eat. The band is only designed to make you feel satisfied faster and longer than without. THAT IS ALL THE BAND IS SUPPOSED TO DO!! Ack, it pains me to have to repeat this on this website over and over...

Everything else is up to us... eating healthier, exercising, etc. It sounds like you are on your way back to doing the right things.

I would make a suggestion though, are you drinking plenty of Water? That might help to flush out what the fat cells are releasing as your getting back to a healthier you.

If you need any guidance, or just someone who is going through this too, feel free to PM me anytime. Best wishes as always.

Oh I feel for ya! Its hard work. As you can see, i'm struggling slowly thru this weight loss journey, as well.

I have a question for you... do you eat slider foods because you aren't able to eat solids? I can eat solids, but my will is weak and I struggle to make good food choices.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
