How Tall are You?

Recommended Posts

I'm asking because I met with my nutritionist about two weeks ago and she told me that short people like me have a harder time losing weight than do taller people--even with wls. I'm 5'2". Honestly, I'm a little discouraged (though I know she was just trying to help me have realistic expectations). I'm wondering if there is any sort of anecdotal correlation between one's height and one's satisfaction with the band or other wls.

How tall are you and how would you rate the success of your weight loss since wls--how happy are you with your band?

I am 5'1" and just had mine done. I have always had a hard time losing weight in general but being vertically challenged made it harder to me, more compact.

That's a new one on me, too! I'm 5'9" so I guess my results don't matter in the comparison, but I want to lose 134 pounds and I've lost 53 pounds since the start of my pre-op diet at the end of January, through surgery on 2/10 and through today, post-op. My best friend who is 5 foot tall and wanted to lose about 80 pounds had surgery on 2/24 and she's lost 25 so far.

The simplicity of the diet equation is reduce your caloric intake by (or burn an extra ) 3,500 calories per week and you will lose a pound. There's no footnote about height. The closer you are to goal weight, the more the loss can slow down

I'm 5'2.5 and had been losing quite well since being banded. I don't think height matters as much as following the band rules, activity levels, and one's metabolism. But that is just my own opinion.

5ft 10. I think height has been an advantage, definitely.

Not in losing weight, but for me 100lb overweight was not enough to result in a huge stomach or any disproportionate areas. I was simply "beefy" or "hefty". I hated that. In lots of ways I'd far rather have been petite and round. But I dont have to deal with lose skin now and for that I'm very glad.

I agree that short fat people have more trouble with the loose skin since they carried their weight differently. I am 5'2 and I have lost 110 pounds since July 5. I do have loose skin...everywhere, but I would do it over in a minute. My band has saved me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
