I think everyone is diff't and it also depends on how tight your fill is. I do not do well with any bubbles in my drinks.< /p>

I am 3.5wks post band, and I haven't attempted it yet. My doc said should be fine - the only issue is the bubbles which fill the pouch so you may only be able to do sips at a time rather than knock back a cold one in a hurry. He said sip a pint over 30mins you will be fine.

In saying that this guy at my friends work who was banded - he drinks 3 diet cokes a day (and has lost 40kg!) so sounds like it varies.

I was told no carbonation because to consume it regularly can stretch your pouch out. Now, I dearly love Belikin beer (national beer of Belize) and when I was in Belize last month, I ordered a Belikin and over the period of about an hour drank about half of it. I didn't want any more after than AND I was belching like crazy. Not worth it.

I am 3 months post op and I had beer for the 1st time since my surgery last weekend. I only got thru half of it. I sipped it and it basically got too warm before I even had a little bit gone. It didn't bother me too much just made me extra burpy but i'm used to being extra burpy ever since my surgery.

I was banded in oct. I drink beer every now and then. Would Love to drink it often, But it makes my left side hurt. This seems to happen to me if I eat to fast,to much, or if I am not chewing well. Doctor said probably my pouch being overfilled causing the pain. Problem resolves when I get back to regular eating pattern. It is hard being the food addict I am following all the rules all the time, but I pay when I do not. I love my band and have lost about 45pds but it is rough sometimes.

I think agree with Cathy - it's not worth it!

My RN explained it in a way that made a lot of sense - do you remember in science class when you took a balloon and put it on top of a soda bottle - the balloon blowed up itself from the gas in the soda (anything carbonated) - same deal with your pouch. I don't know about you but I spent too much time and money to stretch out my pouch on anything...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
