Anyone have any "special" ways to relieve the gas pains after surgery. I will be banded on April 28th. Just trying to be prepared. So far the only thing I know to do is walk, walk walk!

I haven't been banded, yet. I have my surgery this Tuesday (04/28/2009). But, when I was a nurse on a hospital's surgical unit we used to have patients rock in rocking chairs. This used to help release the air that accumulated during surgery. The rocking is in addition to doing whatever walking you can do.

Take care,

Jim

Hi there,

I'm 3 days post surgery and don't have much gas pain anymore. Yes, walking and moving definitely helped the most - especially when I had acute gas pain). I also took charcoal tabs (separated by a minimum of 2 hours from other meds) and Maxolon (to keep nausea at bay but it works by increasing gastrointestinal motility so I figure that helped with getting rid of gas too).

Good luck with your surgeries. Don't forget to let us know how you're doing after the procedure.

gas x strips do wonders, and walk, walk, walk.

I agree with Brockbabe82.... GAS X strips! They disolve on your tounge and work well.

I was banded 4/14 and I take 2 gasx strips in the morning and 1 at night. Works great. BUT, walking is important. I found laying on my side for a while then getting up and walking make the gas come out.

thanks

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
