two weeks post op- restriction?

Recommended Posts

I was banded two weeks ago. There was no saline put in when I got it. I've been able to eat enough Soup and Protein Drinks, etc. up until yesterday. So yesterday I noticed I couldnt drink as much of my smoothie as normal. I finally decided I was still full from my soup a couple hours earlier and left it.

Well today Ive had about 4 oz of strawberry banana smoothie. I got another smoothie and was attempting to drink that, but only got down about 3 oz. I havent had any Water in between- nothing, but I cant take in any more. It's strange that after two weeks this would happen. Has anyone else experienced this? By the way - Im officially sick of liquids.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

so soon post op , you shouldnt have any restriction or very slight, I had problem with my first band and ended up could take nothing , not even Water , but part of my stomach had came back up thro the band and got trapped and had to be redone a week later , since then , I can eat virtually anything since going on solids. Perhaps its swelling or inflamation of your stomach thats causing the restriction. I would speak to you doc and ask him .. best bet for reassurance ... I would also perhaps consider maybe so soon post op , maybe its mental ... I know when I was on liquids I just got to the point .. I was sick also and couldnt be bothered at times ... but then silly me ended up dehydrated LOL ... so perhaps Im not the best person to give advice.

I hope all turns up well , Im sure it will be probaly nothing more than perhaps inflamation or something similar and it will resolve itself after a day or two ...

Give the Doc a call for sure.

This didn't happen to me but I've read of many who experienced restriction right away. You may be one of those lucky few. I think they experience fairly fast weight loss. I didn't get helpful restriction until my 4th fill. Until then my weight loss was slow. Now it isn't fast but I'm happy with the rate of loss.

You are still swollen, and your insides are healing so it will prob. feel like you have a restriction but you really don't your body is getting use to the new tools it has inside...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
