Sleep Apnea/CPAP fear

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Tuesday and I wore the hospital CPAP. It went well but now I'm at hope and I'm afraid of air being pumped into my stomache from it. I know it goes into your lungs but... I use to end up with too much gas/air pressure from it before I got the machine changed out. Is this a normal fear?

How has everyone else faired out with their CPAP or BIPAP since their surgery?

I'm still getting to know my CPAP lol. I was lucky and didn't wake up with one in recovery. I also haven't slept an entire night with the one I have at home...but, I have had the same thoughts as you about it....I certainly don't want any additional air in my tummy!!!

Abbie thanks for responding. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my fears. Good luck with your journey!

I am fine with mine and no pressure changes or "extra" air in the belly...

What did your surgeon say? This is a good question to ask him/her.

I know I asked her - but I totally don't remember what she said (lol, thanks to the meds).

then call and ask again...best to know for sure! you won't be the first, or last, to forget the answer to something. Your doc would rather you ask than just chance it!

You should be fine. Never have had any issues with mine.

I expect I have less air into my stomach now than when I was breathing (snoring) through my mouth B4 the CPAP. At any rate, I'm sure it's low-cal air. As for my CPAP, I never knew I could sleep so well. It took me about 20 minutes to get used to it. Can't picture sleeping without it now. I even wake up to find my wife in the same bed with me!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
