I will be banded in May. And very excited and nervous at the same time.

Just want to get some suggestions of Breakfast food. I usually am a coffee/muffin person in the morning. I know breads are out of the question. so i just want to know what everyone eats for breakfast or do you pass on it?

thanks.

Well, don't be sure that breads are out of the question - some of us don't have problems with bread.< /p>

But that said, I have a couple of favorites. Most often, when it's a pretty busy day, I will still have a Protein shake. It's good, it's easy and gets me through... sometimes I might have a snack before lunch (a slimfast snack bar or a banana or something like that).

If I'm home and have plenty of time, I love 2 hard-boiled eggs. That will fill me for several hours.

In the earlier stage, soft scrambled eggs will be great for the mushy stage (use non-stick spray instead of oil to help the calories).

But those are my norm. I guess in some ways I'm not that original.

eggs are good , lots of Protein , and Protein shakes , for example I had 1 hard boiled egg and a 1 sausage this morning, and a Protein shake and I was fine and satisfied. ONly breakfast and I have nearly half my Protein requirements for the day.

I recommend having a decent breakfast to start you off , skipping it or just a shake makes me hungry by mid morning and its a struggle getting to midday lunch.

wish you all the best on your banding

I don't skip, for me that's just too long to go without food. I'm in the mushy stage right now these are things I eat:

scrambled eggs (I use 1 egg + all whites)

malt-o-meal

oatmeal

cottage cheese

egg salad

Try to make sure you are getting some protien with every meal.

Good luck on your band journey!

I eat either yogart

or boiled eggs

or scambled egg and turkey sausage.

I like Jimmy Dean Turkey sausage best. It is pre cooked and tastes the best that I have found with precook turkey sausage.

I drink 2 cups of nescafe Tasters Choice Def coffee (singles) with a Spenda Mocha flavored sweetner and coffeemate singles Creamer.< /p>

Most days I have one packet of oatmeal and add one table spoon of flax seeds. (130 calories -6 gm protein) I add non fat fruit yogurt to it instead of milk which is about 1/2 container so another 40 calories and 3 Protein. I also use egg beaters with a piece of fat free cheese and sometimes veggies for an omelet.< /p>

I usually go for a breakfast quiche. Sometimes if I'm really hungry, though it may sound weird, low fat black Beans or something equally full of Protein.< /p>

Just a suggestion. You may want to switch to ground flax seeds or grind them yourself. If you do not already do this.

I recently found out that you do not get all of the benefits from eating the seeds.

When my cousin told me this I went looking around and found this article: Ground flaxseed: Better than whole? - MayoClinic.com

Your breakfast is very similar to mine. It fills me up and I was a person who never ate breakfast before.

This is my best recipe for a Breakfast "muffin" that's good for you, filling, etc.

I love this recipe and try to keep a stock of them in the freezer to flash in the microwave before work. I make twelve at a time, but DH and the roomie keep stealing them for their own breakfasts!

I've varied out the meats, veggies, and even the seasonings. It works just as well with bacon, bell peppers, cooked spinach, and even chicken if you cut it finely enough.

Hey Amy....care to share your quiche recipe??

Sure, I just get a pre-made deep dish pie crust from the freezer section, put 1/2C of shredded cheddar cheese in the bottom, crumble 4 slices of pre cooked ready to eat bacon (armor brand takes less than a min in the microwave), and sliced mushrooms (you can add any other veggie you want, such as peppers and onions).

In a measuring cup, I beat 4 eggs with a fork, then add a cup of half and half. Beat those together, then season with whatever you like. I go with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika with a tiny dash of nutmeg. After mixing, pour over the other ingredients in your pie crust and bake at 390-400 degrees, for about 40-50 min depending on your oven. I had to tweak my times until I got perfect crust browning without shellacked eggs.

1/8 of the quiche is around 200 calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
