I don't post often, and I don't come here often enough, especially when things are going good, and they are going pretty good. However, I developed a big adhesion on my port scar which tugs at my skin, especially when I am running or stretching. It can feel like someone is trying to rip my skin off from the inside. So I am having a little revision done this next Monday. Not only will they be releasing the scar tissue though, my doctor is also going to move my port (already a low profile) behind my abdominal muscle. This move is scaring the bejebes out of me! Just because I know they will need to go through muscle for adjustments which means pain and lidocain and it's a little scary. I'm also pretty sure the muscle will hurt like crazy after the surgery. The pain and recovery are not that frightening to me, and certainly not a reason to delay or put off the procedure. But has anyone else had this problem? I'm including a picture so you can see. In the middle is my belly button and over it and to the left is the scar, it looks like a second belly button! To the right is a tiny scar for the original surgery.

So please let me know what experience you have had with port revisions or ports behind the muscle, can you still see it / feel it sticking out?

hi i had to get my port put back in place due to excerise my stitches actually popped out. so my doctor had to go back in and what he did was take mesh and somehow made it stick in place its not suppose to happen again. he attached the port to my muscle and yes it hurt alittle bit but for the most part wasnt to bad. i took pain meds because my friend came for a week and stayed with me and she thought i was in so much pain made me take the meds and sleep. i remember waking up in the hospital and not feeling any pain or anything just a bit dizzy. i got out of the bed got dressed and left because i was so pissed off the doctor only gave me .2 cc for a fill(LOL) i did all this and still didnt get a fill. since my port flipped i havent had a fill since october. (but no worried i finally got a fill last week)

but you shouldnt have anything to worry about it doesnt hurt as bad as i thought it was going to and i was scared as well i went and got my friend to fly out here to take care of me for a week and my kids since my husband is in iraq. and truthfully after the second or third day i was pretty back to my old self besides me not being able to bend down as well as i was use too. its a simple procedure and it really doesnt hurt

Hi Ghostbuster,

I'm looking for a CARING surgeon in the Phoenix area who doesn't think only of DOLLARS but also about my well being to remove my port & lap band I've had it for 1 1/2 years & am tired of having constant EXCRUCIATING pain in the port. I found after my total unfill that I still have some restriction, especially in the am but FINALLY the gas pains have stopped.

I hope you have found resolution to your situation & are in good health & spirits. Thanks.

Is insurance covering this? If so they would have a list of doctors that they contract with. Then you can narrow the list from there.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
