What happens if you have to get surgery to repair your lapband? Does the surgeon charge you the full price?

This is something you should to ask your surgeon.

I would think that this is one question you should certainly ask your surgeon/clinic. From things I have read and heard from other bandsters this varies from Dr. to Dr.

Personally, the clinic I went to will supply the repair or replacement of my band for my lifetime. This includes the cost of the band itself as well as the surgical fees to the surgeon and OR staff. However, I would be responsible for paying the anesthesiologist because the clinic I used contracts out that work so it is completely seperate. At the time of my surgery (2006) the anesthesiology fee was $900.

This issue was 1 of the things my Dr and I went over during my initial consult with the clinic. I made sure I went into that meeting with my list of questions and was satisfied before I left the meeting that I had all the answers I needed.

All the best,

Patricia

I haven't selected a surgeon. I'm wondering if it is standard or if their are caveats.

Nope, this is an individual thing. It would be something you should put on your list of questions to ask as you are choosing a surgeon.

It depends on the doctor and the reason for the surgery. If you do something wrong the surgeon shouldn't hold the liability for that. If you slip the day of surgery, I would think most would.

Most times things just happen and it isn't the surgeon's fault so yes, you should probably bank on paying out of pocket if you have surgery in the US or Mexico.

If you have a slip and need surgical repositioning or if you have a flipped port I know my doc just charges his costs but I don't know about US doctors.

My doctor charges for everything, I guess, we never really talked about problems(oops). Its been a year now and so far so good tg. As far as I know and was told by doc they will pay for any procedures from date of banding forward. They are paying for fills, less copay of $30 and any surgeries less the deductible.

Please note when I asked doctor if fills were covered under my insurance they said no, but paid when filed. So you might want to ask insurance company also.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
