Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for March 25th and just started my preop diet today. I am a 42 year old female from Alabama. I am having my surgery done at the OCC. Anyone care to take me under their wing? Oh BTW I would like to lose 117 lbs eventually.

Hey Ladies, Congrats on getting banded. Hope things are going well for you. I have been banded almost three years, reached where I wanted to be a long time ago and am maintaing well. I don't feel there is a lot that I don't know about the band except I have never had any major problems, lots of small ones all due to me. If any of you have questions just pm me or e-mail and I would be more than happy to help all of you.

Thank you Sallyjo. I had my surgery 4 days ago. Any advice you have I would love to hear. I can’t wait to transition to solid foods, but I'm trying to make my shakes as interesting as I can. I'm sure I will have lots of questions as a little more time goes by.

Donna, Just hang in there. I started on shakes ( slim fast)

chicken broth, graduated to cream of chicken Soup and mashed potatoes. When I started solids my wonderful doctor told me nothing under three ounces and nothing over six ounces. I followed his directions to the tee and it worked fine. My first pb was when I woke up from a nap and grabbed a bite of watermelom from the fridge. Ate it to fast. Just always remember our bands are not miracle workers, we have to work with them. Hope you are feeling pretty good by now. I never stopped when I got home ( same day ). Was walking a block the next day. I lost 69 pounds.I was 62 when I had my surgery. I am down to a size 10-12 and feel very comfortable.Had trouble after every 10 lb. lose but after a few days it would start dropping again. The best of luck to you and let me know any questions you have.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
