I had the most lovely experience today

Recommended Posts

I just knew it was going to happen with this fill. I got my third fill yesterday and I finally feel restriction. So today I am chewing my "chunky" mashed potatoes. I just knew that one piece was too big but it was too late, it was swallowed. I felt it sit there, like a rock. I though OMG just take me now, dont make it end like this! I tried to cough, nothing. Tried swallowing a few more times, nothing. Raised my arms over my head, nothing. I got up and walked around the house for what felt like an eternity. It only took about 1 to 1 1/2 mins for it to unstick itself and I felt it pass thru and that was a feeling in itself. And let me tell you. I think from now on I am just going to mash all of my food up and forget ever trying to chew again, lol. Agh, the joys of the band. And to think a month ago I questioned what getting stuck felt like. Someone said "oh you will know" and trust me, you will know. Thats for sure!

I HATE it when that happens- the "oh shit, that needed more chewing" swallow. I felt something weird today- first PB. Nothing like running out of your classroom to throw up unchewed pineapple...I made a note to myself- smaller bites, more chewing, and love the semi-soft foods.

WOW....I read these posts and say, when will I feel restricted. I really hope to God I never PB, but I think I might just have a situation seeing that I haven't really been thinking much about the chewing. What I would really like is to feel repulsed by carbs. I can't seem to stay away and that's probably what's slowing down my weight loss.

You are lucky, it has taken me as long as 30 mins. That by far is the worst part of being banded(for me)..Not to mention the sliming, omg that's so gross..But, a band has got to do what a band has got to do! lol..I also get to where it feels like my food sits in my chest..I know, chew,chew,chew..

I can relate....

I wasn't paying attention and took a bite of chicken, chewed a couple of times and swallowed  OMG I thought I was going to die. Fortunately it went down in a couple of minutes but I was walking around the house, coughing, sliming and feeling pretty uncomfortable. That was a good wake up call for me :)

Oh well, I guess we all have to learn sometime!

OMG now I'm freaking out LOL!! I have had NO FILL in my band, but have lost 80 lbs. Haven't lost anything in 2 months, so I get filled on 2/28. I'm *pretty sure* I'm in for a real treat as far as restriction goes. I have not once thrown up, but get some BAD heartburn when I eat something I'm not supposed to (tortilla is bad)

I appreciate the post, though...now I'm prepared!

CHEW CHEW CHEWWWWW

It's sooo crazy how you can almost know as your swallowing"wow that's gonna get stuck!".It's happened to me quite a few time's but it usually passes very quickly.Lunch meat, cheese & crackers........that's the combo that usually gets me stuck almost every time! I dont know if I'm just too excited or what! LOL !:) It's like slow down,it's not your last meal!! Crazy!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
